I have had my own practice, no insurance, for 10 years, in health care since 1978. There are enough patients for everyone. If you are great at what you do, and you know your market and you are qualified in multiple lanes of medicine and focus on public health issues with a focus on disease prevention then we are in the world of primary care which is meets autonomous practice. I continue to make medical rounds in GI a few shifts a month. Don't be afraid but be sure having your own business is for you. It is the hardest and most rewarding thing I have ever done. The podcasts have good information and it is enjoyable to listen to other nurse practitioners succeeding. It is concerning that Justin does not use his full/real name in this show. It devalues his “expertise” when he isn’t honest about his real name. There are no people with the name “Justin Allan” who have an NP license.

I am not a NP yet. I’ve put off becoming one for many years because my salary as a RN is higher than what many NP jobs are paying, that I’ve come across. However, after listening to this podcast, I’ve enrolled into a post-Masters certification program for FNP. Following completion, I will open my own practice focusing on weight loss, men and women HRT, and medical cannabis cards. I’ve listened to every episode, and I’m a fan of Justin. I love his straightforward approach and appreciate him selflessly sharing his knowledge.

I love listening to a lot of different business podcasts, and some I agree with and others I shake my head. I’ve been an NP with multiple successful businesses for over a decade. These are the real deal. It’s very truth, unvarnished, not high MBA talk or you must go huge with tons of storefronts. This is : get in there and do it, think about your niche, your opportunities, control your expenses, and get yourself some freedom. The part of talking about financial independence and debt is refreshing. First time I have heard a NP focused business podcast where I am like, finally, someone else gets it. I’ve done lots of one on one talks with NPs about this same stuff over the years, but never put it out there in such an accessible way. We all need this knowledge. Thanks for putting it out there for other NPs. Anyway, keep it up.
