A podcast that allows you to learn, and reflect on the grief experience and your own grief story
Grief Out Loud is a podcast that honesty surprised me. Like so many, I have a complicated history with grief, and being able to listen to individuals, community members, and professions in the field of bereavement has left me feeling much more connected to others and much more forgiving of myself. The host Jana navigates each episode, with so much compassion and understanding. And the variety of topics is outstanding! Informative. Heart felt. Vulnerable. Sad. Memorable. Important. Relatable. Yes, even funny at times. And ultimately leaves me feeling more connected. Would highly recommend.

There are so many podcasts out there on grief but Grief Out Loud is one of only a few that focus on kids and families and strengthening those bonds after a loss. Jana DeCristofaro stands out as a smart, compassionate host who gets to the point of the story and goes deep with her guests. A great podcast for anyone dealing with loss.

    One of my favorite podcasts
Since my daughter Kaitlyn died in 2017 at age 14, I started looking for ways to cope with my grief. I am so glad I found this podcast. I thoroughly enjoy listening to Grief Out Loud. Jana does such an amazing job bringing grief and all that comes with it out in the open, while offering tools for life without our person. I love the variety of guests and everything they bring to the table. I very much enjoyed the Celebrating Dia de los Muertos episode. I learned many new things and will definitely start incorporating this day. Since my daughter’s favorite Holiday was Halloween, this will become an extension of a celebration of her life, as well as several other special people in my life who have died. Thank you Jana and Dougy Center, for the important work you do! Sylvia

    A Calm, Peaceful Space
As a widow, I’m always looking for new conversations around grief, and this show always makes me think. I’ve also noticed that it’s easy to listen to because Jana’s overwhelming “vibe” is so chill. That rubs off on her guests as well. I’m glad I found this podcast and will keep coming back to learn more about my own grief journey.

    One of my favorites!
Grief Out Loud is a realistic, compassionate podcast that explores grief in all its many forms. Each episode brings a unique perspective on the process of grief, and Jana’s interview style is comfortable and allows her guests to show up authentically. And they touch on the less common themes of grief like guilt, anger, and even humor. Such a great podcast for anyone who is looking for a thoughtful, heart-centered conversation about something almost all of us go through at some point in our lives.

So few talk about this subject
This podcast does talk about grief--that thing no one else wants to talk about in a healthy, sensitive and constructive way. Unresolved grief is at the root of so many of people's personal problems and an open conversation is important. Jana asks the questions her audience wants to know the answers to.

Kudos from a child life specialist!
I’ve been a child life specialist for about 12 years. I’ve lost track of how many children. I work in a NICU And do a lot of bereavement support, with parents and siblings. I just found this podcast while updating my resource binder for our department. I’ve got not listened to 4 so far, but I’m addicted and so grateful for this venue. I will definitely share with appropriate families and continue to build my grief expertise through your sharing. Thank you!
