Please turn off the music when people are talking. It’s so distracting! Love your podcast.

    Amazing
This podcast blows my mind (I’ve listened to well over 100 episodes so far). Not only is it relevant to me personally as a Mormon with polygamous ancestors, but Lindsay’s and her guests’ research and stories are thorough and powerful.

    Unforgettable Podcast
This podcast is incredible. It dives into this culture and provides such rich detail and depth. I cannot stop thinking about it.

    Fascinating
I love this podcast and have listened to it for years. I am not a part of any faction of Mormonism. Neither are any of my family, to my knowledge anyway. Lindsay is remarkable as an interviewer, podcaster, researcher. I will listen for as long as she continues to put out work!

    Thank you.
Lindsay, I recently discovered this Podcast and your sunstone Mormon history pod. I am a practicing male member of the LDS church. I want to thank you and hopefully combat some of the unchristlike rhetoric that you have to deal with every day. Your podcasts have been an incredible help to my wife and I. So many questions and frustrations we have are addressed through your work. I personally have been challenged by your insights to look internally at the way I Mormon and improve. Your tenacity and focus on finding the truth and being fair to all are admirable and a breath of fresh air. We need your voice in Mormonism. Your efforts are making a difference. Thank you for doing what you do and being the fair minded, thoughtful and intelligent person that you are. #teamlindsay #yearofpolygamy

    Really Good!
This podcast is very interesting. The host is great at interviewing her guests, and the show is well researched. I’m Jewish, and I find this podcast fascinating. I have read several books by women who have left fundamental Mormon groups, and I always have had great admiration for them.

Thank you so much for this recent episode. The book is wonderful!! On my 3rd reading of it. An awesome author and Anthropologist !!! So great that we could hear her speak about the book. 👏

Not a Mormon but love this
I’m a Christian but love this look at history and especially the issues around spiritual abuse. Very fascinating!

    Please stop the “Readers”
A fascinating and engaging podcast. I’m listening in order and finding it all very educational, insightful and accompanied with lots of suggested reading which is always nice. My only complaint and advice: Please stop the dramatic readers. They are just terrible and listening to their stumbling and stale dramatizations of these women’s journals is so jarring & off putting. It’s much like I’m sitting in a dull community theater play. It’s really insufferable. I much prefer when she reads them herself. I hope, hope she soon drops this aspect of the podcast.

    Amazing
It took me months to finish the first 100 episodes about church history of polygamy. This podcast changed my life. There often were times where technology got in the way of learning some things but Lindsey is amazing and you could tell she learned how to edit better throughout the podcast. I can’t wait to start listening to the rest of her research on here.

    Thank you
I wish every LDS woman would listen to this. I left the church a few years ago for various reasons. I was a convert at 20 and was all in for 27 years. There was so much I didn’t know. Thank you for doing all the work and I really really enjoyed this podcast. It has validated much of how I felt for so many years and it’s so appreciated.

    Interesting but...
I’ve listened to about 20 episodes and jumped to the 19th wife episode because I’ve always been fascinated. However, the reason I’m only giving this four stars is because Brian (?) is constantly talking over Lindsey. It may be his excitement but it’s rude and not exactly what I want to hear when listening to a “feminist” Mormon podcast. I hope this is the only episode he is on! Otherwise, incredible work Lindsey, you have a podcast voice and you can tell that each episode is researched in depth.

    Everything
Thank you for sharing your unbelievable research and beautiful sense of humor and kindness. Your delivery and fair reporting is sincere and can not be reputed. You probably don’t comprehend the gift you are!

    Love!
I love this podcast. Lindsey does such a great job at telling the history of the Mormon/LDS church in an informative, neutral, and non-biased way. She addressed myths vs. facts, and I appreciate that! She uses great sources and summarizes history in a way that is easy to follow and easy to understand. I’ve learned so much and it has been so healing.

    The Winder family
I just happened to watch the seduced documentary about Keith Raniere and I could not help but think of something I learned while watching. People will get indoctrinated so much to a point they will get to a point they will not need an outer source to control them the damage is done they will continue to mentally do it to themselves. Hence the girl he kept in an unlock townhouse for two years. She at anytime could have gotten up and walked away but the indoctrination had been done. If you were all raised in the Mormon church your indoctrination has been happening your whole lives and this isn’t that crazy because we were taught polygamy still exists eternally. This should give people pause about what we teach our kids and how indoctrination can harm for a lifetime. I suggest looking into freedom of mind by Steven Hassan and learning more about unhealthy groups. If something feels off to you and your struggling with a concept listen to that initial feeling. That’s your inner guide your compass don’t squelch it down and tell yourself your wrong and it’s something you need to change. I feel a deep sadness for the harm indoctrination does to many. This is just the beginning of your story and you have the power as women to educate yourself and change it but you will need a lot of courage and outside support. Men having multiple wives isn’t mainly about sex your right it’s about power and control. And that alone should give you serious pause as women. I hope you read the reviews and listen to both your critics and supporters. You can leave an unhealthy situation!!!!!

    So intelligent and well done!
I can’t believe how engulfed I am in these episodes, even as a non Mormon! Great job!

    So informative!
Over half way through on all the wives episodes. Totally fascinating! Thank you for all the hours you spent gathering information, journals, facts and truth. Love that you are allowing the stories of these women to be told. I have learned so much and received so many answers. Highly recommend! I listened to the first episodes on Lindsay’s website. Then switched to the podcast app once they started on that.

    ERP for Mormon women!!
Seriously, this podcast healed me. Being exposed to the darkest shadows in Mormon history for 100 episodes helped me to stop feeling so reactive to it. I finished the series and felt like polygamy had lost its hold on me, I felt so free. The dread and fear and disgust that used to surge through me was just gone. It was seriously the best exposure therapy lol. Thank you thank you!!
  • BritneyALB
    I binge listened!
Being a fundamentalist Mormon woman often leaves me feeling misunderstood by the world. It’s easy to shy away from sharing my beliefs because I’m always stuffed into an ugly box and looked at like some sort of weird animal. Lindsay opens the boxes and reveals REAL, normal, healthy people can live this way and it’s not always good, but sometimes it’s great! It’s not for everyone, but it can be for some and that’s okay... The history here is so fascinating!
  • Dianemac99
    Just WOW
I loved listening to this podcast, despite the fact that I am not Mormon. Lindsay does a very professional job and is a wonderful interviewer. An interesting history of the Mormon church, specifically polygamy in the Mormon church, and the western migration in the 1800s.
  • yftrdtry
    Professional but riveting!
Gives as unbiased and factual accounts as possible in such a complex subject. She is thorough and professional and brings in many different sources, professionals and first hand witnesses and past polygamists. Life changing to people who have been affected by the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and any of the splinter groups. Amazing.

Fascinating podcast! I am not LDS but it doesn’t matter, everyone needs to hear these stories.

I mainly came here cause I was curious about Joseph’s wives, but the first 6 episodes are missing.

Well thought out and fair, good info. I accidentally hit 1 star instead of five and can’t seem to change it. Sorry!!

    Julie Rowe
Love your podcast- very interesting and you do a great job. BUT, Julie Rowe is crazy and sounds so manic; seriously delusional. She is also so full of herself she’s hard to listen to!
  • Lynda3330
    Beautifully done.
Gaining understanding of confusing Mormon doctrine. As a young girl, the church taught me many things that weren’t true. It’s just been the last few years the mainstream LDS is coming out about some of the lies I was taught. Thank you for all of the hard work, sincerity and honesty you put into your podcast. The whole polygamy thing is still confusing to me. Your podcast has truly been an honest look into the matter. I hope one day to have a better understanding. Thank you for putting together a truly amazing podcast!

    Can’t. Stop. Listening.
I started at episode 1 and just can’t stop. Every episode has been informative and captivating. I’m just sad that the early episodes aren’t up anymore!

    Aaron Sullivan
So enjoyed listing to your conversation with Aaron. I personally saw the devastation of the Lafferty’s and their devolving religious beliefs. We are now seeing this again with Chad Daybell. Kudos to Aaron

    Excellent Work
As a non-Mormon feminist interested in organized religion and it’s impact on individuals and families, I find this series thought provoking and bold. Lindsay is incredibly brave to speak out on issues that are uncomfortable and even blasphemous within the community of her upbringing. She should be commended for her integrity and openness - we need way more “seeking to understand” today than ever before. I highly recommend and encourage the trolls who have nothing but negative feedback to spend more time learning and less time judging.

    Julie Rowe interview Cra
I’m sorry, I don’t know what’s going on with host. That 2nd parter with Julie Rowe is batsh** crazy. And the host wants to collaborate w/her in the future. 😂 It’s so terrible I recommend you listen for sheer entertainment.
  • rtrnofthemac
    American Prophetess episodes
I could not get episode 180 to play. I found episode 181 interesting, but a little difficult to listen to because Ms. Rowe kept interrupting and was a little scattered in her speaking.

Sad to see where time is spent
Episode 180- 2 hours of making fun of other podcasts and tearing down religion. Wow, what uplifting work you all are pouring your hearts into....

    Playback issue- episode 109
Hi Lindsey, thank you for the amazing research & effort you’ve put forth! I am having an issue with playing episode 109 re: Meadows Massacre- I cant get it to play via apple podcast or on the episode webpage. I don’t want to fall out of order- How can I access this episode?

Thank you for all your hard work and effort into this podcast. I learned so much, and made me rethink so many different viewpoint that I had. It helped me to have a better perspective and empathy. Thank you. You changed my life

    Fascinating!!
I’m loving this podcast! I’ve learned so much and I appreciate your very thorough research and passion for examining how the church, and it’s past, influence women.

Great all-encompassing podcast for those interested in Mormon polygamy.
    It’s good.

    Cult
Just listening to asinine statements like “end of days” had me turning episodes off, after not too long. I understand this in your “doctrine” is too much. I wanted to give it a chance, to try and understand LSD, but I’m good. It’s beyond sad that people need this in their lives.
  • KarlaG909
    By Mormons, For Mormons.
In my opinion you are trying to talk yourself and your listeners into believing in this cult called Mormonism. It is not normal just because it is a large religion. Just more brain washing.
  • MarthaBrotherton47
    Finally makes sense
Polygamy never made sense to me my whole 36 years of being a faithful LDS member. And I was never allowed to look. Thank you for taking me on this journey as hard as it has been. I am forever indebted to what you have provided for us.
  • Luke William Jensen
    Life-changing
Might seem overly dramatic, but as someone from an LDS background, learning the history presented in this podcast has helped me to better understand the culture I was raised in, which, in turn, helped me to understand myself better. I will be forever grateful to Lindsay, her many guests, and all of the historians who contributed to this treasure.

    Amazing
I started this podcast 4 months ago and I am now on episode 80. I am so fascinated by the stories and love how Lindsey presents the stories. This podcast has changed my life and made me think about my religion more than I ever have in 36 years. These stories Lindsey tells has made me understand why I have felt lost and confused my entire life in the LDS church. I didn’t even know that admitting doubt was something that could be done until I started learning about LHP and all her amazing work. Now an entire world is opening up to me and my family. Thank you Lindsey!
