a ModelersLife

100

All modelers have a life but what do we know of it. This podcast is as much about the people in model railroading has it is about the hobby itself. I've met so many interesting people in the hobby over the years I decided it would be fun to share their back stories with everyone else. So come along with me, Lionel Strang as we discover just how many fascinating folks there are in this great hobby of ours.

    Bullying Narcissists
Not sure how anyone can stand listening to these guys unless they’re into that toxicity.

    Bullies
    Bullying should never be ok.

Not a good representation of Model Railroading
Lost all respect when it came out that they had been bullying the social media director of the NMRA. Promptly unsubscribed.

    A Marvelous Show
An absolutely pleasurable listening show! Lionel & Bruce are not what you’d expect… This is all about the folks in the hobby. As for the naysayers down the list. You just don’t get it…

    It’s about the people!
Love every podcast put out by this crew. The podcast is not about the latest and greatest new model, or about how to add a decoder, or building kits! It is about the people in the industry, and those of us that model. They bring you stories about why Jason and Rapido build what they do, people who innovate in the hobby like Dave Abeles, or just people enjoying the hobby. Feels like hanging at the club or model shop talking to friends.

If podcasts were trains, you’d be the Canadian!
I have been a fan (merely mortal, not super) for several years now. I appreciate your discussions and especially the banter. I work in the Train Department of the largest Hobbytown on the planet (in Kennesaw, Ga, naturally), and I think Lionel’s right about the coming explosion. I hope Goo-Gone will help us to clean up, afterwards! Unfortunately, as I work in a hobby store, I don’t make enough to be a patron, and I know I’m missing out, but that’s how it goes. I love you guys, but you can’t have my beer. Sorry, I mean, you can’t have my beer, eh? Is that right?

Too much rambling and stupid questions
Is this a model railroad podcast? A useless series of questions such as, what condiment do you like on your hotdog?, etc. makes this podcast useless for the model railroading community not to mention entirely too much rambling about nothing related to the hobby. I’ve tried to listen several times over the years but it’s just not worth the time to listen to babbling and bad jokes and jabs. Sorry Lionel...I need to go vacuum now.

    Episode 146 Comment
Lionel, Jason: Thank you so much for bringing to light the miserable underworld of baseless critique in the model train world. I’m in the manufacturing industry (not model railroading) and it seems like the vocal Minority does get the most attention to the point of driving away hobbyist (current or new). I wish I could bottle up this episode and post it on every model train forum for everyone to hear. In the end, I don’t expect much to change, but it sure is nice to hear the manufactures problems seem to be universal. Keep up the good work Lionel. Sincerely: Charlie Tucek (Chicago, Illinois)

    Entertaining Cast of Characters
Having the opportunity to sit down and talk with Mike “The Spoon” Ostertag, Lionel & Bruce, they didn’t disappoint. I’ve never laughed so hard, while talking about railroads, modeling and life. This pod is without question a good listen, especially the episode with William Sampson. They’re all solid, but I might be biased towards the Sampson interview.

    Model train podcast
This is a very entertaining program for any type of mode railroad enthusiast. The hosts and guests keep things light, and follow the aptly titled podcast name to a t. There is more to the hobby than just rails and plastic parts. Lionel continues to create ear candy for this great hobby.

Funnier then a cold rail to the ear!!
What a great model railroad Podcast. It is like listening to friends talking at the bar after a train show. Also very funny, even if they are not trying to be funny...

    Wonderful Podcast!
This is a super fun podcast more about model railroaders then about model trains. The concept is different and well worth listening to. It is a "long distance relationship" with your closest railroad friends.
  • sixfootmonad
    Always a laugh!
Lionel, Jim and Bruce bring a very entertaining discussion of model railroading with each episode. A great way to learn about what others in the hobby are doing and find out a little about the people behind the models. A must listen!

    THE Model Railroaders' Life Podcast
Great podcast about, not just model railroading, but also the life of the model railroader. Stay informed on all the latest in model railroading and stay amused with all the humor that goes along with it. No boring rivet counting here!

More than just a train podcast
I love a good train podcast, that’s a fact. This is even more than just a great model railroad podcast. These folks explore the modeler’s life - from childhood to current day, and really find out who the people are behind the trains. We have some highly interesting folks in this hobby. It’s a fun podcast and the guys seem to have a lot of fun doing it! Conversational and interesting!

    A podcast Paradise
A great listen for the commute home from work, or a good companion while I'm working in my model train room. A ModelersLife is a wonder addition to my podcast repertoire. The hosts are funny and informative (about what, I'm not sure). The guest's stories are entertaining. Great show Lionel and Jim.

    It’s Inconceivable!
It’s Inconceivable that such an informative show can also be such good, clean, wholesome FUN! A peek into the lives and personalities of members of the Model Railroading community drawn out by surprisingly talented and witty interview hosts Lionel Strang and Jim Rindt. Showcases the wide range of backgrounds, talents, and interests of our fellow modelers and friends. An altogether fascinating vicarious thrill for Model Rail Radio junkies like me.
