Joy, a Podcast. Hosted by Craig Ferguson

184

Storied late-night talk host Craig Ferguson brings his interview talents and singular world view to a discussion of the modern state of JOY, sitting down with notable guests from the worlds of entertainment, science, government, and more. How's our Joy doing? Bridled? On life support? Where do we find joy in a world that seems by any rational measure to be collapsing around us?

    Just Craig
I agree with another who wants more of just Craig talking - about tweets and emails or anything else. All the podcasts are good and love his questions and follow-ups. But do give us just Craig more often.

    More Tweets + Emails!
Craig or Tomas the Producer please read this. As much as I love (some of) the guests what the people need more of is Craig pontificating! Its audio therapy! We need more of the tweets and emails! Its 100x better than the guests.

    I had high hopes.
I’m a Craig fan (at least, of that part of his career that he wants to leave in the past…namely the late night host part). I’ve seen his standup act twice, too. But this podcast doesn’t live up to its own stated premise: “Talking to interesting people about what makes them happy.” Lately it’s become “Craig has a thought or point of view, and then beats his guest over the head with it until they agree or relent.” I’m sure it brings Craig some joy, but sheesh, it gets old.

    Yikes
In the Roxane Gay episode, Craig just agreed with the equality of outcomes concept. This and otherconcepts are the basic tenets of Communism. Not only is Communism anti-human, it is certainly not a pro-feminist.

    Love ‘I’m so Happy’ …
    …and this podcast!!!

Hey, Craig, I rented your Paris (Vaugirard) Apartment for my wedding in 2009! Thanks for the cool digs.

    Craig is my Joy
This was the best marathon listening experience bar none! You were my fav late night host and I’ve missed hearing your voice…full of humor, intelligence, humble and clever commentary. Exactly the medicine I needed.

    Roxane Gay, please no more
I miss you on late night and this show has been a decent fill-in! And until today have loved all your guests. <rant> But then “academic” Roxane Gay happened and I was not amused. You were discussing about opinions and having polite conversation … and she proceeded to call all Republicans racist xenophobes (we’re NOT, we just have a problem with sketchy border-crashers) and she spouted some kind of nonsense about our opinions not being opinions and we were not even allowed to participate in discussions. You moved the conversation along but it was too late I couldn’t listen to any more of the episode.</rant> Anyways I’m looking forward to next week which I’m sure will feature a much more joyful guest.

But Craig… I believe it may be time to reunite with Shailene Woolley to speak to her again in the here and now about Joy.

    Reunion episode
Loved the reunion episode. Watched it all the time with my kid, and we still appreciate all three of you! So talented and funny. Also, Secretariat freaked out my dog. She isn’t the smartest dog I’ve ever known.

My most fave (ex) late night tv show host…
…does a podcast and it’s AMAZING! I have to say my fave ep to date has to be your time with the better Musk 🤪 Your chat about Burning Man was amazing and I think you Craig would really take away a lot from the experience. I promise you people are so into what they are doing they wouldn’t know who you are. A close runner up was your chats with Kathy Lee. What a woman and human! I shared her ep with my mother and now you’ve gained another fan. Your podcast is a breath of fresh air. Mostly I find your accent adorable! 🤩 also I think you would be amazing on a show about weird things in American History. I excelled at the subject and you pull out things they NEVER taught us in school! Side note! I write Xmas movie and you were a muse in one of them. It’s your voice I heard for the character (your love interest is Drew Barrymores voice in my head!)

For Man, Horse, Robot. Miss the late show so much. Great to hear you reunited on this episode.

    A man A robot and A horse
This podcast gives me joy. And the prospect of a future Man/Robot/Horse podcast leaves me in a state of ecstasy illegal in most prefectures

    Let the guests talk!
Overall a good podcast but Craig needs to let his guests finish a thought - let alone a sentence - before he talks over them.
  • La Unica Lobaluna
    Great podcast and guests
So glad to hear you again, still missing your late night shenanigans, you always made me laugh. I am hoping to get tickets to your tour. Be well dear Craig.

    Glad to hear you!
I’ve always liked you and I’m glad you are doing this podcast. Looking forward to future episodes. Oh goodness. The Aisha Tyler episode was absolutely hysterical. Loved it

    Such a delight
The premise of this podcast is so refreshing. The interviews are so relaxed and engaging. I swear I could listen for hours and feel like I was sitting in the room, joining in the conversation. THANK YOU!
  • Zain_1984
One of the best interviewers out there
Highly recommended — Craig’s conversations are always insightful, funny, interesting, and a source of positivity. Now if only he would interview one/some/all of the Grand Tour/Top Gear trio (I suspect not given he’s a big fan, but one can hope).
  • Lycanthrope51
    Hey NickPappa GFY!!!
If you don’t like it don’t listen. Craig Ferguson is a fabulous person and performer.
  • Little Richard Simmons
Bishop Briggs episode - last 5 minutes
In the last five minutes of the episode, Craig thought they were discussing Little Richard and Bishop thought they were discussing Richard Simmons. Neither of them understood the disconnect, which was painful to listen to.

    How lucky are we!?
This podcast is so organic and full of real raw lovely conversations.

Informational but First One Is Lame
The “Fluffy” is inauthentic. A joke to even have him around the Legend Craig.

    The best podcast
Could listen to this all day!

    Shadoe
I couldn’t listen to this one. Once Shadoe Steven’s started talking about working for the aliens, sorry that was too weird for me. WTH?
  • Jnieenfr3214
    Love it..usually
I love this podcast usually 5 stars..until today. It was a mistake to get so deep into politics. No joy there. I listen to this pod because even when conversations get deep, there is still a great positivity. But not today.
  • Elizabeth0717
    Yvette Nicole Brown episode
Normally like listening to Craig however, this episode did the opposite of bringing “Joy”. Within 6 minutes Yvette began talk that was divisive. We know where her biases lie. If you want Joy - this is not the episode of you are a white woman or a police officer.
  • billykel
    Interesting , different, hysterical
I love Craig’s podcast. It’s nice. It’s enjoyable. It’s inspirational. And sometimes it just makes me laugh out loud in my car on my way to work, which is not easy to do. Excellent show. Kicka$$ job Ferguson!!
  • Racheljunebug15
    Always interesting
I’ve learned a lot about people I’ve never heard of. I’m pretty sure Craig could talk to a tree and it would be interesting.

Best word I can think of to describe these discussions. Sincere honest interesting dialogues with a wide array of guests. Please keep doing what you’re doing!

    Colm Dillane = Blowhard
Love Craig, love this show. Forgot how much I enjoy the humor and brain of Craig Ferguson. But had to turn off the episode with Colm Dillane. What a jag off. Was either contradicting Craig or bragging about how awesome he is. "I was always real good at drawing. I was a straight A student. I turned my dorm into a retail shop and the university got mad." The braggadocio and sense of entitlement were nauseating. Dude needs to learn the art of the humble brag. Still love you, Craig, and can't wait for future shows with better guests.
  • Figure5InGold
    Please, Please Keep It Coming
These conversations *are* a joy. Thank you, Craig.

    Waiting For It…
…and ‘it’ is the episode where you have your good friend (and my Second Favourite Scotsman) Sir William Connally on this podcast! Yes, I know he’s retired from stand-up and probably from acting, etc, but come ON, man! Ya gotta have The Big Yin on. Loving this podcast, most of your guests have been wonderful, but i still miss the show and, of course, you, Craig. Happy New Year! Lisa.

    So glad you’re back
Your Sirius show got me into podcasts many years ago and now I am able to take in hilarious pods. You never disappoint and always bring the sillies everyone needs.

Sad to see you giving him bandwidth, Craig.

    A Favorite
I’ve been enjoying Craig for many years, from the Late Late Show to movies to stand-up. This new, sort of mature and spiritually interested Craig is even more a delight—with his interest in the Desert Fathers and their more mystical insight into original Christianity, and the discerning inquiry into what really matters. It has been my own inquiry as well, driving me to work in a master’s degree in theology from Boston University and Harvard, and Craig totally gets it. Perceptive man. And funny and fun and perfectly human. Joy indeed.

    Jay
So enjoyed your chat with Jay and other guests. You have such a sweet demeanor and a wonderful voice. I loved hearing about the old days and all the stories you could tell. They never get old.
  • EADizzle
    The best!
Craig is truly a gem in entertainment, honest and humorous. I miss his distinctive brogue in late night, and his voice is sorely needed in that space.
  • nopoliticaladsplease
    Great to hear you
Loved your conversation with Shirley Manson & with Tom Papa👏
  • NickPappa
    Boring
There are podcasts where the host puts in some effort, then there are podcasts where the host has nothing else to do because they don't have a job, and we're once on t.v. This is the latter.
  • zazen420
