Essential Listening for Autistic, Non-Autistic, and Curious People
The Autistic Culture Podcast is essential listening for anyone who is autistic, anyone knows/loves someone who is autistic, and anyone who is curious about the richness of being human. Angela and Matt are intelligent, knowledgeable, and kind podcast hosts. Autism isn’t a condition that needs to be fixed; autism is a neurotype; and Autism is a way of life.

Late diagnosed autistic women only misdiagnosed for two decades
I shared this podcast with my counselor tonight, who is also autistic, which is why I was diagnosed. When I felt overwhelmed this morning choosing clothing, I thought of this podcast, and ALL of the acceptance of autism. I took 5 minutes out to do a breathing technique vs. calling out for the day, from a complete meltdown.. I went to work not only on time, but the confidence of hearing this podcast made me feel that ā€œit’s okay to be meā€. I had a great day that started on the verge of a meltdown. I reminded myself who I am authentically, and I didn’t have to ā€œmask to get throughā€. I sat with myself for 5 minutes, timer set and everything, arrived to work on time, and had an AMAZING day. Thank you!ā™„ļø This podcast is LIFE CHANGING.ā™„ļø

    Fantastic Autism Podcast!!
This podcast has done wonders for my mental health. What a shift from feeling ostracized to feeling like a proud member of our giant Amazing Autistic Community! Like many others have said, I too quote this podcast often. I really love it.

Best Podcast for Autistic Community, Culture, & Informed Advocacy
This is my favorite Autism podcast and one I reference in conversation with other Autists the most frequently. Like, multiple times a week. 🤣 It is a testament of how relatable, interesting, thought-provoking and relevant I find the content. I wish I could rate every single episode, because I have listened to them all! Even the eps that have me thinking I won’t relate to the content always includes an experience or observation I can connect with. And it is the best content I have found to help me process my own internalized ableism and coerced demand compliance without shame because of the cultural framework that is central to each topic during my (seemingly endless) unmasking journey. Angela and Matt refer to themselves as the PR department for Autism but this podcast is so much more than that. Thank you so much for bringing TACP into this world! šŸ«€

    Never Felt More Seen
I love this podcast! They talk about autism in such a great way that feels digestible and intimate, like you’re friends with them. My current hyperfixation is HBO’s Succession, which is veryyyy autistic in my opinion (characters always misread cues, all about an abusive father forcing his children to do something only his way with no regard to what they want, all the dialogue is like a puzzle you have to solve, every character is layers upon layers) and I’d love to see Matt and Angela do an episode on it. My favorites they’ve done are the Pregnancy and Taylor Swift episodes, they were so informative, interesting and fun to listen to.

    Amazing - personally and professionally
I have found immense value in this podcast, both personally and professionally. I’m a neurodivergent human and a couples therapist. I often recommend this podcast to clients as a fun way to explore possible Autism for themselves or their partner. And I have learned so much about my own brain from listening. Thank you, Angela and Matt, for creating this amazing resource that celebrates our unique brains and hearts!

    A Must Listen
I found this podcast after my children were diagnosed and it has been pivotal in helping me embrace all the positive identity and cultural aspects of autism and adhd. I look forward to listening each week and relate to so much. Thank you to Matt and Angela for creating this labor of love to shower the autistic community with positivity and love. This is the way. (I purchased merch and wear my ā€œthis is the wayā€ tshirt with pride.) I am the child to parent diagnosis pipeline personified, and am eternally grateful for the chance to shower myself and my children with pride in our shared identity and culture.

    Thank you!
This podcast has been instrumental in my own self diagnosis and so helpful as I navigate parenting an autistic child as well.

    Autistic Joy!!
The warm and cozy podcast family I always wanted. Full on sobbing while listening to the Peanuts episode. I’m late ID AuDHD parent of an amazing autistic kid. I can’t wait to share it with him when he’s interested

    Glad I found this podcast
As someone who was diagnosed with autism at age 4, it’s wonderful to find this podcast. I feel as though I’m hanging out with two like-minded people whenever I listen. Keep up the great work and congratulations on 100 episodes!

    Positively great!!
Truly amazing discovery. Actually got a little misty over the great feeling listening to this, with equal parts striking deep into the details of the topics and describing the experience these things do that make things interesting and wonderful. It makes me feel good and inspired to keep following my passions and interests. Super big thanks and keep doing the great work!!

    So good I teared up
The episode for teens and preteens made me tear up it was so good. It spoke to my previous teen self and hopefully will speak to my almost-teen.

    Comfort and joy!
This is my absolute favorite podcast right now. The hosts are so thoughtful, smart, compassionate and have wonderful chemistry. I love how they are so accepting and positive about autism. Every episode makes me feel like I just hung out with two like minded friends. Thank you for all you do to make autistic folks feel more loved, valuable and heard.

    Vibrant, authentic & engaging!
I found my people halfway through my first episode. After listening to another 80-90, I understood my peculiarities better than any prior evaluation, therapy session, or self help book. This podcast has been life changing. Thanks so much!

    Extremely Engaging
Neurotypical mom to Autistic daughter. I love this podcast. It provides such a personal, informative and interesting education in autism, autistic culture and autistic experiences. Learning about autistic culture has reframed how I see the world. I am so grateful for this education, and it is also extremely entertaining.

    So much fun!
This podcast is so much fun, even for neurotypicals! There is so much to learn from the hosts. A whole new world of understanding and ā€œa-ha! momentsā€ opens up while you listen and your mind will be blown — all while you are being entertained, learning about others, and gaining the knowledge to be a great advocate! These hosts have so many interesting bits of info to share and they have such a great sense of humor to go with it. Their passion is truly contagious. Can’t say enough good things about this podcast!

    Finally Reviewing
I don’t leave that many reviews, but since I have been listening to the crap out of this one, I figured it was only fair. So this 5 star review comes after listening to almost all of the episodes. I hate when you see reviews of a product that is like ā€œI just opened the box and the gizmo looks great! 5 stars!ā€ I want to know how it performs hopefully over at least some amount of time. Or the Yelp reviewer that gives a restaurant 1 star because the waitstaff only checked on their coffee one time even though the food was ā€œwonderful!ā€ Well, I give this 5 stars for checking the important boxes of a podcast. Entertaining. Likable hosts. Good content. Well researched. On point politics/social justice and views. Inspiring. Able to admit mistakes (if needed). Respectful of the audience. Anyhow, it has been great to listen to as I continue on my unmasking journey and intentions to be a better advocate for all of us autistic folks out there. Looking forward to more.

    Powerful Reframing and Celebrating
I just finished binging the new X-Men cartoon and started listening to this podcast a little over a week ago. Experiencing such powerful story with the X-Men talking about and struggling with being marginalized and hated with all the wonderfully celebratory and educational information I’ve has been massively transformative for me. I’m a therapist with ADHD. This podcast with Angela and Matt have reframed so much as I’ve been learning more about my own neurodivergent mind while I work with autistic and ADHD folks.

    Affirming, brilliant, and entertaining!
Angela and Matt provide a wonderful format to explore Autistic culture in an affirming, thoughtful, smart, and entertaining way! It strikes a wonderful balance of giving our brains the data we want with keeping a nice pacing and wonderful chemistry between the co-hosts. It’s one of my go-tos for brightening my day and feeling connected to my culture and community! Thanks for the all of your work Angela & Matt!

    This is The Way
It’s great to find affirming and joyful content about being neurodivergent! I would definitely recommend this to anyone interested in autistic culture whether diagnosed, curious, or with a ND loved one. Check it out even if you’re just a big fan of the topics they talk about!

    Revelatory and fun!
This podcast has opened my eyes to the social and cultural world of Autism. I feel seen in the representation of Autistic culture! And helps me connect so much more with my Autistic and neurodivergent friends and clients. And it’s hilarious and entertaining!

    Long time coming
Finally I can let my hair down. Thank you so much for this.

    Love this podcast!
There is so much about autism and autistic culture to be celebrated! It’s easy to be bogged by ableism and not ā€˜functioning’ well in a neurotypical world, and it’s so refreshing to hear about how our people have provided amazing arts, systems, et cetera that affect so many people. This podcast has helped me so much- I’m burnt out, and listening (and re-listening) has helped provide some enjoyment over the last few months! My only criticism is that I think some episodes should be longer or have follow-ups. I could listen to hours of discussing and dissecting various topics 🫶

    Helps me understand my daughter
What a gift these two podcasters are. My adult autistic daughter sent me a link to this show and I am finding the insight (terms, ways of being and not being) SO very helpful. My only regret is that my daughter was diagnosed in her 20’s; if we had known during her childhood we could have helped her constructively during her formative years.

    So much joy
I especially love to listen to this podcast when I’m feeling low, out of sorts, out of place, because it immediately brings me to a place joy. Oh, and I learn things from every episode that make me feel less alone in this world. Thank you, Angela and Matt, for this wonderful gift!

    A joy!
I love listening to Angela and Matt’s conversations. It makes me smiling hearing the deep-dives on all things Autistica. P.S. Please do an episode on David Lynch!

    As is our way
Hi! I wanted to let you to know that I have been binging this podcast, checking out your websites, clicking on episode links, and telling everyone I know (and some who I don’t) all about it…as is our way! My wife loves it too and it’s really helped her to understand our culture better. Thank you both for the fantastic and necessary podcast!
  • Laura5122023
Absolutely game changing and hugely insightful!
This show has been like a homecoming for me. We are unfolding a pretty extensive family lineage of autistic people and exploring what that means to each of us and how we interact with the world around us. I’ve never experienced a conversation as satisfying or enriching before. Every tangent that my brain begins when the show is going actually gets unpacked! What?! It is restorative and invigorating for my busy brain, it is a bridge across the deeply troubled waters I am swimming in as an almost SLP who feels dreadfully alone in a sea of outdated/harmful medical model minded practices. I don’t know how to say thank you enough.

    An Affirming Autistic Podcast
Great podcast, very much worth a listen! Each episode has interesting points on different topics, which I love. I love how the hosts share about autism as a culture and make connections that can help Autistic and neurotypical people alike to understand the Autistic experience more clearly.

    Truly one of a kind
This is one of the very few podcasts out there that give you insight into the autistic brain but in a fun and engaging way! Oh! And without trying to sound or act neurotypical! The interruptions are my favorite thing.. I feel seen! ā¤ļø Thank you for defining this rich autistic culture for us and for validating our thoughts and feelings.

    Best part of my week
I love the connection Angela and Matt share in this podcast. As a newly diagnosed Autistic person (Matt was my evaluator!), I’ve been searching for community anywhere I can get it. Finding a podcast that focuses on Autistic joy and frames our traits from a strengths-based perspective has been invaluable for my being. It’s done wonders for all of the trauma I’ve lived through and for reframing what I previously viewed as my failures and realizing they’re some of my favorite parts about myself. The hard part is finding others who realize those ā€œquirksā€ deserve to shine as well—which is possible when you surround yourself with fellow Autistics. Truly, seeing the new episode pop up is one of the best parts of my week. Who knew Tuesdays could be so fulfilling. Thank you for this labor of love.

I'm Autistic-- everyone needs to hear this podcast to really understand Autistic folks!
This is the first time my husband has truly understood how my brain works-- and me as well! Angela and Matt are geniuses, and can explain Autism in a way that just makes sense. I love that in this podcast, we can celebrate how awesome Autistic people are, and not that we need to fix ourselves. Many of us have spent our lives feeling terrible, or being made to feel terrible for simply being who we are. I'm done with that. And this podcast can help accompany me in my journey to being more unapologetic for being who I was meant to be. Thanks for making this podcast!! I was diagnosed Autistic (by Matt Lowry thank you so much for validating me there!!) as an adult after my son was diagnosed years prior. I kept researching for my son, and felt like light bulbs were going off explaining why my own life never made sense. The first place I went couldn't diagnose me as Autistic, and it killed me. Then I found Matt years later, and every single word he said landed. Everything in my life finally made sense. I am so thankful I found him years ago. He has truly immersed himself in Autism and knows what it means to be Autistic inside and out. After I met with him the first time, I was proud to be Autistic, and still am. Each day I find new and fun ways to be even prouder, and this podcast continues to point out more fun nuggets!! Keep it going --thank you so much.

    Riveting
I imagine if you are Autistic these podcasts will take you on an almost magical journey of self discovery but even if you are neurotypical you will find them fascinating. Time well spent!! I love that the information is illustrated using personalities and situations known to us through history and current events. I have learned little known facts about some well known and beloved people.

    Best podcast ever!
I’m an avid podcast listener and mom to an autistic son. I wish this had been the perspective I received from evaluators and therapists. Each episode is informative and ridiculously fun. Thank you Matt and Angela!!
