I am only a few episodes in, but I love taking the time to really dig into the meat of the books to understand what is truly being said. As a Tolkien fan I have read The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, The Silmarillion, The Children of Hurin, Beren and Luthien, and am currently in The Fall of Gondolin.

Very much enjoying this podcast. Just found this podcast on X and have been loving it ever since. Give it a listen. i highly recommend.

Incredibly enjoyable to listen to, great content, and super knowledgeable. You can tell there is solid research behind each episode. If you’re a Tolkien fan, you will love this podcast. It’s very informative without the extra fluff podcast banter - it’s all content, love it!

Evan does “kill it” … except when he uses Tolkien as a foil for his own Christian conservatism. Then, for brief periods, he gets preachy, to me, and makes Tolkien advocate a particularly modern Christian morality, strongly dualistic in nature, otherworldly, one that assumes there’s an easy, uncritical connection between Tolkien’s fantastic and very layered literature themes and some vague and undefined godlessness in today’s world. Instead, Evan, please keep some things quiet. I, an ordained Christian minister, do not need, or want, a Tolkien Sunday School class. Let Tolkien speak through you, and not you through Tolkien, please.
