KAS NHFirst Tier ExcellenceExcellent!!! Just heard the wonderful podcast about Mr . Elston Howard . I grew up in the Boston area and began to discover the story of baseball with the 1967 Impossible Dream team that included Elston Howard. He was the veteran who anchored the Red Sox to greatness that year. Long overdue to the HOF. Hopefully soon. A noble man and role model for all! Podcast is first rate. Hope to visit museum in the next year.

Undefended HeartA Must ListenOh my goodness, this is one of the best podcasts around. If you like baseball, even a little, this is a must-listen. It's the history of the Negro Leagues and the history of the 20th Century. Bob Kendrick's joy is infectious and I dare you not to fall in love with Buck O'Neal, Oscar Charleston, Cool Papa Bell, Josh Gibson, or any other of the great players who have been missing from our history until now. I even made a trip to Kansas City last July so I could go to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. Enjoy!!

ABR JRAlbert RossThis podcast has taught me more about the history of the Negro Leagues than I ever knew, and I thought I knew a lot. I have also learned a lot about American history and our history as Black people during that time. I can’t wait to get to Kansas City to see the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. It has become a top 5 bucket list trip

BillBlaster1Fabulous Sports History! This podcast highlights the enormously important contributions to baseball history that players from the Negro Leagues had, mainly between the 1920s and early 1950s. The names of the players they discuss are well known to anyone who is a baseball fan, and Bob Hendricks does a very professional job of describing the history of these players and the old teams. Plus, he promotes one of the finest museums in the country, The Negro Leagues Baseball hall of fame museum in Kansas City, Mo. Highly recommended!

tgroovyGreat History Great BaseballI love the stories and never tire of listening to Bob Kendrick. His love of baseball and history, particularly the Negro Leagues is contagious. Just perfect.
-
LeftCenterFieldWell Done!Enjoyed a Bob Kendrick marathon while stuck in traffic today. His enthusiasm is infectious, and his knowledge and sweet memories are wonderful. And he’s not afraid to raise tough, uncomfortable issues, like how integration doomed the Negro Leagues, and to some extent the communities that depended on the local franchises. This is colorful history with cogent analysis and humor.

Lunarglide 4Diamond in the roughI am so thankful to have run across this podcast. Bob Kendrick is an incredible story teller and his compassion and love for this game is so evident in every episode. There is so much information packed into every episode that I can’t remember it all. Learning about Ernie Banks playing with the Globetrotters and Satchel Paige telling a young Willie Mays that three fastballs are coming (and he didn’t touch any of them) are details worth so much more than home runs and RBIs. Thank you Bob Kendrick for bringing your heart and soul to this podcast and for continuing to bring the “Gospel” of the Negro Leagues to al of us. I look forward to each and every episode.

Not happy w/ AppAddictiveI love this podcast, excellent topics and guests, and I could listen to Bob Kendrick all day!

MGWillis“You Don’t Know, What You Don’’t Know”If you love the game of baseball, if you grew up as a kid playing baseball, then these are stories you probably never heard. We celebrated the players, many of whom you will recognize, and more that you will never forget after hearing them. Forever grateful to Mr. BOB KENDRICK and the Negro League Baseball Hall of Fame for keeping the history alive and perhaps, you’ll find this history to be more pertinent in today’s tumultuous times. As a reminder of persistence of vision and perseverance of character, during the time of the league at its zenith, we may find hope for the future — and surely be entertained by the stories and conversation found here on Black Diamonds. dallasdefenseWonderful History!I am an old guy born in Denton, Texas that was dragged across the US by his university professor dad. I loved baseball and love the way it was played before the long ball era. This podcast is a blessing for me! The stories are great and the facts need to be appreciated. Thanks! I recommend this to anyone who loves baseball. Wish it was still played ow like it the Negro Leagues played it. More fun than waiting for a homer. Thank you again!!

SoulDriverPerfectAlways looking for podcasts with great baseball history and I found the perfect one. Have heard Bob on other podcasts and have been to the NLBM (where I saw Hank Aaron and Frank Robinson among others in person) so I was familiar with the museum and It’s President. Great mix of Bob’s relating the legends and story of the Black Diamonds and his interviews with current players. Highly recommended to all fans of baseball and civil rights.

Willie OrtizAmazing!I was so glad to be able to hear these stories from the players and Mr Kendrick. My father always told me about the stars of the Negro leagues and the Latin players he got to see as a child in Puerto Rico. I have not been lucky enough to visit the museum in KC but I am hoping to one day. Thanks to Mr Kendrick and everybody involved in this project!
-
John p24Great podcastI was searching for a new baseball podcast and came across this. Great history lessons from Bob Kendrick and stories that deserve to be told among the other stories of America’s pastime.
-
YankeeWolverineBest podcast I’ve come across in yearsMr. Kendrick and the Negro League Baseball Hall of Fame are American Treasures. Before listening to this podcast I was largely unfamiliar with both. Through incredible narration (by Mr Kendrick), fantasy production and captivating story telling we are told about the sad, poignant, beautiful and most of all uplifting history of Negro League Baseball. At this point in my listening, the one thing I am most grateful for is getting introduced to absolutely one of THE most indomitable American characters I’ve ever met, Mr. Buck O’Neil. Thank you so much Mr. Kendrick.
-
Seamhead23Willie Mays Featuring Bill WhiteI just love these podcasts. Just hearing the stories from Bill White had me laughing so hard. I grew up with Mr. White watching him on WPIX Ch.11 in New York. What a history lesson in every episode. 10 Stars!!

I could listen to him tell stories all day and visiting the NLBM is and has been on the top of my bucket list for quite sometime. This podcast is grade A. -
dawswrldA very educational & entertaining podcastI came across this podcast recently and it has been a great listen learning about these amazing players of the Negro League. I’ve always had a fascination with the league and of the barnstorming leagues that had black teams and white teams playing each other years before MLB integrated. Now as a middle aged white man having found this podcast and to actually hear interviews of these players intertwined with interviews with people who knew them as well as Bob Kendrick’s commentary & stories makes for a fantastic listening experience.
-
ChavimanNegro Leagues HOFBob, thx for what you do. You are awesome bringing every story to life. Will be visiting soon. Thx
-
glrob54Amazing storiesBob Kendrick does this right. Listeners learn so much about the history of Negro Leagues baseball but in an entertaining way. Every episode is filled with stories, anecdotes and facts about players and leaders from that era. We should never forget what they went through. And with congenial host Kendrick, who is every bit as congenial in his role as president and front man for the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, you couldn’t have a better teacher. Every lesson is delivered in a way listeners can hear his enthusiasm. His smile punctuates each sentence. Tune in and learn. I can’t wait to return to the museum to go through it again and maybe spend just a few more special moments with Bob Kendrick.
-
JopesakGreat Stories of my favorite sports historyI live in Pittsburgh and always loved the stories of the Crawford’s and Grays. This is so entertaining and educating to listen to and it brings a smile to my face on every episode. I took a class once by Rob Ruck who is a great Negro Leagues historian and author. Hope to see him on the podcast!

dman2332More please!I started listening to the show after a recommendation from a friend and I love it. The knowledge is incredible and it’s a great way to show how the Negro leagues played a huge role in baseball. I would love to see an interview with Ichiro and learn more about how he and Buck O’Neil became so close and his thoughts about the Negro leagues.
-
