greenestgal💗I’ve been listening for almost two years and love this podcast so much. It always lifts my mood, and I enjoy the random discussions that kickstart episodes. The hosts have amazing chemistry, and I love that they’re all published authors—their perspectives take this podcast to the next level. I feel less alone in my kdrama watching experiences.

PR Mario75K-dramas DeligtMy wife and I got hooked on K-dramas last year via Netflix. After searching for a podcast to help fuel our obsession, I stumbled upon this gem of a show. I love the insight, enthusiasm, and overall pure joy these three ladies have for K-dramas. As long as these hosts stay together, this podcast will stay in my rotation. Keep up the great work ladies.

Waiting for my prescriptionGood showPlease use time stamps separating the personal anecdotes and actual k drama discussions

Andee917Great Show (with a caveat)I love this show, the three ladies bring their own tastes and their perspectives as writers of romance. The combination makes for fun and interesting discussions. I have one problem that doesn’t have anything to do with the quality of the show (so I didn’t drop a star) but the categorization. Tagging this “pod” as clean is 100% incorrect. Clean doesn’t simply mean not using profanity(which is actually still used at least in the last few episodes I listened to) it also refers to the content and context of the conversations. The majority of the episodes I have listened to(probably around 50% of them) contain conversation that would warrant an R-rating. Particularly the sexual statements. So please, for those of us who want to know whether any pod is safe to listen to with children, switch out the Clean tag for an Explicit one. Or if you aren’t convinced that your conversations warrant an Explicit tag, at least remove the clean tag, because is it misleading. Thank you for the wonderful show!!!

debjcbsSo good!I found the afternoonas when I was searching for KDrama content, as I don’t have many people IRL who I can talk with about my obsession. They’re thoughtful and insightful and just f’ing hilarious!!! People must think I’m crazy as I’m walking the dog with my earbuds in and laughing out loud. I can’t get enough. Please don’t stop!

Auntie ChibiThinky, Thirsty - And So Much More!!!I first discovered the delightful trio of Amy, Lia and Megan while doing a search for legit podcasts on BTS, almost 2 years ago. Since I LOVE K-dramas and BTS I was hooked after listening to my first episode! As a Korean-American of mature years, I listened to that first ep with a cautious ear, but the hosts always display cultural humility and respect, and acknowledge their white privilege/perspective. The pod is hilarious, entertaining, informative and well-researched. The hosts are intelligent, kind, compassionate, AND thirsty (you have been warned). Adore them!! One thing I’d love to experience is another ep (like the Coffee Prince one) on a classic K-drama from the further past: IRIS, Chuno, My Girl? I know it must be hard to keep up with all the emerging content, but history informs. 💜

jipjopflopInappropriateThe way this podcast’s hosts often talk about Korean male actors is straight up disrespectful. Rather than hold intelligent, cultured and insightful discussions about k-dramas, they spend their time degrading Korean actors. In particular the way they talked about Jung Sung-Il in one of the episodes about The Glory was just so gross and creepy. I used to be a fan of this show but the hosts talk too much about sex.

Baking goodthe best 💗I love it, so funny and entertaining 🙌🏻👍🏻

HumanTingTingMy new bestiesThank you for putting your all into this podcast.

Mooshkin16Entertaining listenI enjoy this podcast, I find myself laughing out loud at some of the off topic rambles and enjoy their thoughts on k-dramas. That being said, I did take off a star for those rambles! Sometimes they go on too long about a topic. I find myself hitting the fast forward button at these times. I also skip through their “recs of the week.” They are all romance authors, which lends an interesting slant to their k-drama reviews. I enjoy that aspect of the podcast.

サラ 💫Love it!I love this podcast! It’s my favorite podcast to listen to when I’m in a bad mood because of the chemistry between the hosts is just the best and they always make me laugh 🧡 Just finished listening to the first episode of The Glory and I wanted to recommend another show to you guys — Weak Hero Class 1. It’s available on viki. It’s another drama that focuses on school bullying and, SHEEEEESH. Parts of it are definitely hard to watch, but it’s worth it. I’d even go as far to say that it was my favorite drama of 2022. Hope you guys watch it if you haven’t already. Have a great day!
-
JCarr0728They cover it all!Thank you for including all types of dramas in your podcast! I started with kdramas but soon expanded to Chinese, Japanese, Taiwanese and Thai dramas. They’re all different but each has a specific charm, just like the hosts of this podcast. Thank you for making me laugh every week even before you share your thoughts in these amazing dramas that we’re all watching.

SwordsterNo longer a lonely KDrama watcher!I’m on the spectrum. KDramas and Kpop are my “whale talk.” (If you know, you know.) It takes a lot of intention for me to not bring up these two beautiful topics to everyone and anyone in my life. I have a few people that will politely listen to my “whale talk,” but there is no one that can actually discuss these things with me. This show is helping me not feel lonely, weird, etc. It’s extremely comforting to hear other people talk that have the same interests as me. I studied writing in college and read a ton, so it’s an added joy that the discussions are done from a writers mindset and that there are book recommendations. Keep on doing what you’re doing! I’ve joined the Patreon, and I can’t wait to share my thoughts with people that will care!

Justme856Love the show!Afternoona Delight was the first KDrama pod I found after going down the rabbit hole in March of this year. I’ve sampled others but yours is absolutely the best! I really appreciate the writer’s perspective on the dramas. It was their recommendation that got me to watch “I’m Not A Robot”, and it was SO good. I look forward to each week’s episode.

CamnemWhere have you been all my life???Ok so hear me out! I’m 35 have been watching kdramas for about 8 years and no one really understands my passion for them. I am like a lone wolf. I found this podcast and I feel so identified with it. Aghhh I’m so happy to have found this podcast I feel I can relate and like I belong if that makes sense. I’m so hooked I love you ladies.

Karenka7Wit, charm,Love listening to A.J, Lia, and Megan’s show! They are very enthusiastic fans of Kdrama and it’s so much fun to listen to them - and they also bring their great analytical skills as seasoned Kdrama fans, romance book writers, and critics of culture. As a recent convert to Kdramas, I still haven’t found people to talk to about my new passion, but listening to this podcast feels like I’m having a rousing discussion with friends who love Kdrama.

Sunshine on my shoulders...Good topics, smart talk!I’m so happy I found this podcast! I’m Korean-American, and my Kdrama watching goes back to the days when my mom would pick up (surely illicitly-copied!) VHS tapes of the series “du jour” (which actually meant the series that had been hot at least a couple years before) at the local Korean video store (in Los Angeles). That said, even though I grew up speaking Korean, eating Korean food, and otherwise steeped in Korean culture, I somehow fell out of consuming Korean entertainment. So, in a way, I’m now [re-]discovering Kdramas and other categories of Korean content comprising the hallyu together with others in the U.S. Long way of saying: I’m in love with Lee Minho(!!!) after seeing him in “Inheritors”/“Heirs” and my just-finished binge of “The King: Eternal Monarch”. I was dying to talk about him/“The King” and searched Apple podcasts - that’s how I landed here. Love the writers’ perspective specific to this podcast! Also love the themes of discussion, e.g., I was also disturbed by the gender relations, etc. depicted in “Inheritors” (granted, it’s already almost a decade old, and Korea, along with the world, has evolved, especially in the wake of #metoo) and glad that was addressed. There are also so many historical/political tropes in Kdramas specific to Korea (I’ve heard various episodes touch on this too - that’s how thorough these hosts are!). For example, in “The King”, the scene with Lee Minho on the naval ship on the brink of war with Japan was narratively gratuitous for purposes of the series plot (although critically necessary for the purpose of showing the hotness that is Lee Minho in a military uniform!!!) - but a good Korean intuitively understands that any opportunity to show Korea triumph over Japan is a good one! And that all goes back to the history of Japanese aggression against and oppression of Korea that is portrayed in “Pachinko” and “Mr. Sunshine”. Anyway, thanks for your take, ladies!! It’s super cool to hear the American perspective on these shows to round out my own Korean *and* American perspective. P.S. Just finished and LOVED “Reply 1988”! First, I watched episodes on Viki, Netflix, and also on a Korean Air flight. The blurring is definitely about not having licensing rights - no blurring on Korean Air! Second, I grew up in Seoul in the 80s and remember firsthand that bananas were a rare, precious, and expensive food! P.P.S. All fans of “Reply 1988” should watch the TVN reality travel show “Youth Over Flowers” with Jungwhan, Sunwoo, Taek, and Jongbong (referring to them by character name) taking a trip through Africa together! These guys are even sweeter IRL!!

ireezeyOn the fenceI’ve been listening for a few months now and generally enjoy the conversations and k drama deep dives. However, while they are transparent about the fact that they are watching k dramas through the lens of American (white) authors, there are a couple of things that bother me: 1) the fact that they refer to themselves as noona/unnie and 2) their tendency to want to sexualize every romantic relationship they come across in a drama. Speaking for myself and as a person of Asian descent, I would never appropriate noona/unnie unless someone Korean actually wanted to refer to me that way. This rubbed me the wrong way initially and I thought I could get over it, but it still bothers me when I hear the intro. For the second point, why are you watching a k drama if you want something a little more graphic? This is exactly why I watch k dramas - the storylines/relationships - not the kissing scenes, DUH. If I wanted that, I’d stick to the western stuff 😑

LhtpcMy KDrama Spirit AnimalsThis trio of women romance authors bring you thoughtful, yet funny, analyses of various KDramas. Drawing on the talents of each podcaster, Amy fearlessly tries to keep Megan and Lia on track while they each provide their own take on the actors, plot, writing, abs (😉) and even cinematography of shows they discuss. They are careful of spoilers so you can pause the pod if you need to. And, they even throw in book and K-pop recs. These ladies are smart, funny, and hands-down the best thing I discovered during the Pandemic. I would listen to them talk about the weather!
-
L4dyAliceThese are smart women! This podcast sets the bar high for kdrama fandom. Reviews are intelligent, nuanced, and there is a diversity of complex opinions. Learning about this genre from people who care about and notice structure has also been fun and had helped me look at kdramas in a new way. I also appreciate the inclusivity and feminist approaches they bring to the show. Hats off to these ladies!
-
bananaruthFun!I got into k dramas recently but had no one to fangirl over them with, which was sad! I’m one of those people who needs to vent about new interests so finding a podcast that scratches that itch is just the best. I’m also a writer myself, so hearing these shows discussed from a writer’s perspective is the cherry on top!
-
Kettle77So much fun! This is probably my favorite podcast talking about Korean dramas. Great insights, lots of humor and perfect pacing. Thanks ladies!
-
broomweedandbrujeriaThis podcast was exactly what I was craving, but never realize existed…Came for the K-drama reviews stayed for the witty, insightful, and heartfelt commentary and synopses that Amy, Lia, and Megan weave into a vibrant tapestry of a podcast. In addition to the Deep Dives, I love the Snack episodes and recommendations that touch on culture, history, and so much more. Also (possibly unrelated) as a queer person, I am always pleasantly surprised and appreciative to hear these folks talk about gender identity in relation to K-dramas (like Coffee Prince) in such an understanding and insightful way. TLDR; if you’re a fan of K-dramas, this podcast is for you. Hands down. Go listen.
-
genki desYay awesome show!I listen to a few kdrama podcasts at work, and this is one of my favorites. I watch the dramas with my husband, and I always tell him what the Noonas said about the shows we loved. :) I might have to get an Instagram so I can talk to you guys! Have any of you watched My Roommate is a Gumiho yet? Could be cool to compare it to Tale of the Nine-Tailed.
-
EJ Likes This PodcastMy fave kdrama podcast!Everything I want from a kdrama podcast - frequent updates, hilariously fun hosts, and a healthy amount of thirsting after our favorite kdrama heros. The addition of the spoiler free section has also convinced me to watch some dramas I maybe wouldn’t have on my own. Thanks ladies, happy AfterNoona Delights Wednesday!

Mamma MegsFound a place to Geek outI found this pod via an Instagram ad and I’m so glad I did! I had been watching KDramas for almost a year and no one in my life understood the joy and elation from a great drama! Lia, Megan, and Amy discuss the good, bad, and ugly and usually have the same kcrushes I do! Even with spoilers, I still go and watch dramas they talk about. I immediately started I Am Not A Robot after their pod and thoroughly enjoyed it. The only issue I have with this pod is that I can engage in the conversation 😂 @absolute_mommy on Instagram
-
AnnieIsBanananie73Weekly FaveI always look forward to Wednesday now to hear the latest Afternoona show! These three ladies feel like friends and have helped me try dramas that I would never have considered. Also, since they are published authors who also talking about writing it now makes me think more about how the shows are put together which is fun too
-
👀Izzy!Fun and light!I like the analysis and discussion of some great dramas! The hosts are knowledgeable and thoughtful, and they bring some great insight in their reviews ☺️ (PS, hosts, please look up the pronunciations of Korean titles and names if you can! This is not meant to be an insult or reprimand, but I cringe a little when you mispronounce Korean names/words that are easy to look up and verify!)
-
April_needs_coffeekdrama gossip with friends.I just love tuning in and listening to these women chat kdramas. I don’t have anyone to gush about kdramas with and this helps fill that void. Grab a cup of coffee and kick back with a good deep dive into some popular kdramas. Great work ladies.
-
Mags156Always looking forward to a new episodeI’m an author and a kdrama lover, so this podcast hits the sweet spot for me. I came for the excellent insights from a writer’s perspective. I stayed because these ladies always make me laugh.
-
Gus22222Not exactly what I’m looking forThis show gets it right in so many ways! I loooove the deep dives into each kdrama (told by true fans who really GET the beauty of kdramas and lean into the cultural appreciation). Also enjoy BTS tidbits about the dramas / actors I learn along the way. What I DON’T love, is that the show often devolves away from the kdramas into book recommendations. I would love this maybe in the show notes, but don’t need it in a podcast ABOUT kdramas. It ends up taking up about 1/3 of each episode and it’s just not my favorite.
-
CCCCopeSuper PodcastI’m really enjoying this podcast. The hosts do a fun and interesting discussion and because they are authors themselves, they offer great insights. Also I like the Snacks, the shorter shows in between deep dives into Korean dramas.
-
TkowalskaSmart, fun, warm K-drama talkI recently found this podcast on a long road trip. I tried several K-drama shows and this is easily my favorite. As authors, the hosts have so many clever insights, but they are also enthusiastic fans and really hilarious—I have laughed out loud many times. Finally, I really appreciate that the shows, actors, and writers are discussed respectfully even when critiqued and that important issues like cultural appropriation and anti-Asian violence are addressed along the way. Thanks for the great show and fangirling outlet! :-)
-
BookishnMichiganLove that it’s authorsI love reading and I love my Kdrama. It’s fun to hear authors discuss the plots of my favorite shows and also explain what tropes are and how they work in the stories
-
BaiBerry08Love this podcastI am so glad I found this podcast!! It is amazing. Love how they share writing techniques and plots that are used in K-dramas that have made watching even more enjoyable. The explanation of Tropes and how they are used in K dramas is so interesting and adds another layer of enjoyment. Love the book suggestions too and K merch suggestions! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Love it.
-
DrspjonesLove it alreadyMy gateway kdrama was also CLOY...which I’m still obsessed with a year later. Also still probably my favorite Kdrama to date. I’ve watched, I’m sure, like 100 dramas this year...really making up for lost time. Listening to these ladies is pure joy. They’re fun with each other and not annoying in the least, like many other Kdrama pods I’ve found. Keep it up, ladies! I’m really looking forward to hearing more of your thoughts. (Please please please review My Mister, Fight For My Way, it’s Okay To Not Be Okay and the TV drama Beauty Inside...these were some of my all time faves.)
-
MsLeeMinHoPandemic FunI started watching K-dramas holed up at home during the pandemic. Nice to listen to people who are obsessed like me. Also pretty funny convo, good discussion questions and interesting facts!
-
nutmeggo1984Korean drama obsessedI’m so excited to find a group of other ladies equally obsessed with Korean dramas. I can’t wait to hear their next episodes on Crash Landing On You. That is the series that got me hooked. Hyun Bin, oh my. If you are like me and want to gush all about the newest shows you’ve watched and your family with whom you are quarantined with doesn’t share your passion, this will be your outlet. :^)
-
jrtplAfternoona Delight! After binge watching Crash Landing On You, I m convinced it was my “gateway drug” to K-drama. So I am super stoked to have discovered Afternoona Delight Podcast! The three hosts/authors are entertaining, articulate and enlightening and I want more, more, more. jt
