Ep 610: business is boring-touches on a very important subject which all biz owners should be aware of! So many unique stories shared here all with valuable lessons, really crafting a tight knit community of makers!! I’m not a product maker myself, but as a PR coach for many product makers, I am always looking for resources to recommend them! @gloriachoupr

    A Truly Superior Pottery Podcast!!!
Rebecca is amazing! With honesty, forthrightness and intelligence, she combs the pottery world and finds those who are not only very experienced but also those who have recently started. She is skilled as an interviewer. I have found her podcast one of the few that I listen to from beginning to end!

    Good info but too pushy
I love the info on this channel. I think that the content is very relevant and useful to potters and makers in generally. My issue with this podcast is it is really pushy. I feel like there are a lot of ads and most of the time it is go to the makers community but what isn’t mentioned is it is $27 and the podcast only gives a little bit of info. Everything else makers community.

    Love!
Just heard the episode with Sarah Hussaini (Not Work Related) and am now working my way through all the previous episodes. So enlightening! As someone who works alongside small biz owners (mostly makers/creatives) daily, this episode was thoughtful and thought provoking. Thank you!!

    Great resource
Considering a leap into taking my love of ceramics into something more. This podcast is filled with great makers whose work I love, who give invaluable tips and have tough conversations. Great find.

    Great show!
Love listening to this show as I’m making pottery in my home studio! The topics covered are perfect for those of us with the dream of making a living off of the things we make! Well done!

    So good!
Thank you for putting this all together. I love hearing everyone’s stories! I’ve been a pediatric ICU nurse for 10 years, and pottery recently became a big part of my life because it totally de-stresses and *centers* me. When work takes an emotional toll… sometimes the only thing that makes me feel better is sitting at the wheel (and wine, duh). I don’t know if I’d ever do it full time but definitely interested in a side-biz. Anyways, thank you again! This podcast really helps me feel more connected to the art world.

    Amazing collection
Amazing collection of interviews with a wide range of makers. Mostly focused on ceramic arts, but so much also applies to makers in all fields, including my work in textiles. I really appreciate Rebecca’s thoughtful questions and curious mind.

Great information, but shameless business plugs
I’ve now listened to three episodes. I love the information. The podcast style is breezy, and not annoying. But there are SO many shameless plugs for their online community. Soooooooo many. It’s way too obvious that the podcast was only created to get people to their community. That’s fine and all, but could use a little chill. I’ll have to listen to this one sparingly.

A must listen for all potters( and makers)
I can’t stop listening. Every episode is so different, reflective and inspirational. The way Rebecca conducts these interviews and the stories shared here are so helpful to get a realistic understanding of what are our possibilities as makers, small business owners and artists. I walk away from every episode thinking and knowing something different about the makers and myself. A true gem.

    Maker Business Inspiration
I discovered this as an amateur clay craftsman. I have a small when and self taught (books and YouTube) but much to learn at the wheel. I am much better at sculpture, being a painter and maker. (I have sold many paintings and some commissions—but I paint for the joy and not as a living). Regardless, at 55 and financially stable am thinking ahead at doing more of where my heart is—and how if my talents may sustain my next career/phase. I jumped back to year 1, episode 1 and binged for many episodes so far. I do like how external makers (outside of pottery) or different backgrounds and cultures and diversity share their successes and challenges. Enjoying this greatly and taking notes. Keep up the great work.

    So Inspirational!
I love this podcast! I found it while really creatively frustrated. After listening to all of the creative entrepreneurs that join Rebecca on her on the show, I was inspired to take a new, business-minded approach towards my artwork. There is something to be learned from every episode, whether it’s how to stay true to your vision and earn money from your work without falling into the trap of producing soul-sucking tourist trinkets, to how to better photograph and market your work on the internet. It’s like a pep talk in every episode. Thank you for making this :)

    Wait for each episode
I love this podcast. As an entrepreneur and maker herself, Rebecca knows what questions to ask and gives her guests the opportunity to reply without interruption. Definitely in my top 5 pods (I listen to a lot of podcasts)!

    motivating, informative, real
For someone considering making a life change to more pottery-this is just what I need to hear. Interesting , candid conversations with serious and established makers offer many different ways of making ā€œitā€ work. The struggle is real, but so are the solutions people have found to live the life they want.

Wonderful for anybody, seasoned potters or not!
I have been a potter for almost 50 years. I have heard a lot of interviews of potter over the years. This podcast is easy to listen to, enjoyable, and elucidating (yes, had to use an e-word.) Treat yourself and listen to a wonderful conversation between two thoughtful individuals.

A really fun, professional, but light listen
I really enjoy the Maker’s playbook. Her interviews are informative, professional, and often times very funny. I find myself engaged throughout the entire segment- even while I’m sitting at my pottery wheel. Well done!
