    Huge Fan
I listen to a lot of similar podcasts and Dark Downeast is easily my favorite. Her perspective and amount of research she does on each episode is impressive. The fact that Kylie does it all be herself! #Idol.

The best choice for ethical true crime
This is by far the best podcast I’ve found for ethical true crime. Kylie is a trained journalist and talented storyteller who brings light to unsolved cases and missing persons across New England. Whether you’re from the New England area or not, this is a must listen for true crime lovers.

    Favorite true crime podcast!
My favorite true crime podcast! Kylie does an exceptional job at sharing the stories, and I have a huge appreciation for the fact that she meets with family members, detectives, and others who were involved in each case. Very well done, highly recommend! 👏👏

    My favorite!
Kylie is a true star in the true crime podcasting world. No one matches her soothing voice, eye for detail, or dedication to the cases she covers. Other podcasts try to imitate, but they’ll never be Dark Downeast!

Wonderful stories esp for new englanders.
As someone from Maine and grew up in SE Mass I love these stories and the respect she gives to the victims and their families. I would give anything for her to stop saying “massa-choose-it’s”’. It’s got two s sounds just say them right. It’s not more professional to use a z sound.

    Maitland
Do you fat check at all? Brianna Maitland lived in Sheldon not Shelburne, big difference. I’ve listened to other podcast of yours and very poor quality.

I always find these stories of a person just hanging out on their own and then attacked and killed so sad. Seems like there is no where safe in this world anymore. Thanks for the great reporting.

    Very liberal
I really wanted to like this podcast, but it was filled with political biases and not much of the actual story.

    Fabulous podcast
There are many true crime podcasts to have a listen. I have heard many…no MANY of them. Dark Downeast is a podcast that is a production. No opinions made by the podcaster. It is information and truth/facts without the interference of another one’s thoughts on the case. Her voice is calm and clear. This podcast is a keeper. I follow and will listen regularly.

    Maine is in New England
Does the host realize that Maine is part of New England? Why always separate them? Also, please learn how to pronounce the towns. Voice puts me to sleep.

Love the way Kylie does it
Her demeanor, her telling of facts with honor and respect for the victims, this a wonderful podcast.

As a devoted true crime fan, I can confidently say that Dark Down East is one of the best out there.
Whether you’re from New England or just love a well-told, deeply researched crime story, this podcast is essential listening. Host Kylie Low is an absolute powerhouse—her storytelling is gripping, her research is meticulous, and she approaches every case with compassion and respect. She dives deep into crimes from Maine and the greater New England area, bringing attention to cases that often don’t get the national spotlight they deserve. Her voice is smooth and captivating, making even the darkest stories impossible to pause. What sets Dark Down East apart is its heart. Kylie isn’t just here to tell true crime stories; she’s here to honor victims, explore the complexities of justice, and keep important cases in the public eye. You can tell she puts so much care into every episode, and it makes all the difference. If you love true crime podcasts that are equal parts gripping, thoughtful, and expertly crafted, Dark Down East needs to be on your list. Five stars isn’t enough!

    So Impressed
I am listening to an episode that happened in my hometown, when I was young. It brought back so many memories of being a young kid and feeling so scared that someone would be so evil. I always wondered how this survivor must have felt after what they survived. Kylie did an amazing job putting a personal and hopeful face to such a sad story.

Can be so much better if…
I want to love this podcast but I get lost every time because of how you tell the story. If you just talk naturally it would be SOOOO much better. It sounds robotic. The stops and exclamation aren’t needed.

    Another AudioChuck podcast to Love
I’m a BIG AudioChuck fan, Anatomy of Murder, The Deck, Crime Junkie, etc etc and Dark Downeast is right up there with all of those podcasts in my opinion. There is something that makes this podcast stand out a little different, in a good way. Keep up the Great work.

    Keep up the great work!
I just found this podcast last week. I have been binging ever since. I work at lot in my car so it’s been nice listening to a new voice that’s appeasing to the ears. 🦞

    I love this podcast!
Kylie does a wonderful job in breaking down cases while maintaining respect for the victims and families. She does not get into unnecessary and uncomfortable details of the crimes and her empathy and compassion can be heard through her storytelling.

    Lost Its Way
Have listened to every episode. The show has lost its way since Audiochuck got involved. Why does every episode have to be unsolved? Kylie used to have a mix. Fully understand why she would want to be a part of Audiochuck but it pretty much ruined the show for me.

    Excellent storytelling!
Kylie has a great way of telling each story with a focus on the victims. She has the best podcasting voice. Love that you are shedding light on these regional stories that don’t get enough national attention. Great work!

    Great Storytelling
I love the way Kylie delivers her stories. Such a calm tone that is so easy to listen to and follow. I love the empathy she expresses and her compassion for the victims and their families. Overall a fantastic podcast!

    Walk Softly Children?
Good show, but I am so disappointed you didn’t give any love or even recognition to Walk Softly Children, dedicated for the last six years to justice for Doreen Vincent. That’s a lot of hard work (and better additional and updated facts) that should be recognized.

    Value Podcast
I am so glad I decided to give this podcast a chance. I listen to several true crime podcasts and this one is quickly becoming one of favorites. The episodes are empathetic and meaningful. 🦞

    Pronouns
The hosts insistence on using “they” for everyone’s pronouns is dumb and makes listening confusing.
  • mexwego
    Such a great non-biased tone
I listen to a lot of true crime podcasts, but I am really impressed by this one because of the non-biased tone. Kylie has a way of giving all the details that she can find without being overly political, but yet really respectful of people and who they are. I also like that some of her stories are solved and some are not… Great show.
  • lowa22
    Wonderful storytelling
**I’m updating my review because it seems like since this podcast became an Audio Chuck podcast, she has changed her style. Too many “quote” “end quote” and citing sources during the pod. Not necessary!! I love that Kylie works with the families on many of the cases, and gives such an in depth look into these cases. She gives dignity to the victims. I think she has a great voice and uses proper grammar which many podcasters do not.

    Fantastic
Love this show so much. Kylie does such an amazing job at what she does. Thanks for keeping the victims at the heart of it all. Appreciate you.

    Storyteller
I love listening to Kylie. It’s like having a friend tell me a story while I cook, clean, exercise, and drive. Keep it up!

    My favorite true crime podcast
This podcast is the only true crime podcast I can listen to. I can tell a lot of love and effort goes into each episode, I love the sound effects and gentle music that plays through out each episode that always comes in perfect timing. I can feel her sympathies for the victims and doesn’t share what Isn’t necessary in order to leave the victims and the victims family with some dignity. I cry nearly every episode because she sets the scene and tells the their stories so beautifully.
  • 24lernin71
    Respectful true crime
True New England crime stories told with respect and not sensationalism. I appreciate the attention to who the victims were in life, and the emphasis on the families and friends affected.

    Most Compassionate Crime Podcast
Kylie has the most compassionate take on true crime I have come across. Clearly she really cares, isn’t affected or flippant in the slightest and has a nice delivery I enjoy listening to. I look forward to more episodes. Thanks Kylie!

    Very fascinating podcasts!
I highly recommend Dark Downeast for a variety of reasons: It’s well researched; it does not reveal a lot of gore; the host Kylie is an excellent communicator who is always well prepared and has a voice and presentation style that is easy to listen to and is not over the top like many other podcasters. However, Audio Chuck podcasts of which Dark Down East is one, are known for excessive commercials even during short podcasts and unfortunately they load several commercials up front before the podcast even begins. While I’m sure the revenue is good for Ashley Flowers, the podcast owner, it’s not so good for the listener. I wish Kylie continued success with her podcasts! 👏👏👏👏 I give 5 stars to Kylie and 2 stars to the podcast owner. Bob Chicago

    Love it
I’m a Boston girl , true crime addict. I was diagnosed with a serious disease this year. I’ve been undergoing chemotherapy and literally this podcast was my go to and still is my go to when I need to distract myself on dark days. Thank you Kylie! Love the content. I love the balance between hearing the hard facts of the case and also the personal memories from the victims family.
