    Highly recommend!
Shannon, the interviewer, uses her detailed research to tell the story of one of Hollywood's greats, Ann-Margret, sometimes sharing things that the interviewee didn't even know! As you listen, you can't help but get wrapped up in both the nostalgia that that Ann-Margret felt remembering her impressive career and the joy Shannon felt talking to one of her family's heroes. This is a fun listen that will make you want to watch forgotten movies and smile!

This was a fantastic interview. I particularly was impressed that she documented his life the way she did before and after marriage. Lovely woman.

    Best Gene Kelly Interview
I've listened to just about every interview Patricia Ward Kelly has given about her late husband and this one is the best. Shannon's questions are well-researched and interesting, and prompt Patricia to share new insights and information about Gene. And, as always, Patricia is interesting and articulate. If you're a Gene Kelly fan, listen to this interview.

Thank you for taking the opportunity to share added insight into the admiration and friendship between these two men. So much to be thankful for number 42. I like to think that baseball can bring out the best. Also, a reminder of the almost lost art of the handwritten thank you note.

Inspiring podcast. We need more like it.
I usually don’t write reviews. But I’m inspired by this podcast every time I listen. And after being a regular listener for over a year, I figure it’s time to say something. The host has a talent for finding the inspirational elements from the stories and stars of the golden age. Even if I didn’t love old Hollywood, I would enjoy listening to Shannon’s uplifting take on the lives of these stars. Sidney Poitier, James Stewart, Katharine Hepburn, Doris Day…I’ve never heard their lives presented so factually, and in such an inspirational light. If, like me, you find learning about classic Hollywood’s “deep dark secrets” old hat; if you’re done with all the negative, depressing, and highly political “entertainment” out there, then this is the podcast for you. Listen to be inspired, listen because you love old Hollywood, or both. We need more positive voices out there—we need more podcasts like this one.

    Great podcast
So grateful to learn these behind the scenes stories from the Golden Age of Hollywood. Double Indemnity is one of my favorite classic films. Cinematic details such as “one look at her golden ankle bracelet” makes me feel like I’m watching the film. The host, Shannon, has a nice cadence, an enthusiastic, sexy voice.

    Knowledgeable Old Hollywood Writer
I listened to the Vanguard of Hollywood podcast “Some Like it Hot.” The knowledge of the writer Shannon is evident and her love of old Hollywood palpable. It made me immediately go find this movie and watch it that night. My hubby and I loved it and never would have found it otherwise.

    Love this podcast!
It’s obvious that the insights and behind the scenes details have been extensively researched, and they infuse even more life into these classic films. I particularly appreciate the personal perspective that Shannon includes in her background information on the stars. To learn that the timing of Some Like It Hot coincided so closely with Marilyn Monroe’s miscarriage and her sad response to it brought me a sensitivity to her situation that I hadn’t had before. I see the film, and Marilyn, with new eyes. To learn that the sensual Jane Russell was religious and sang spirituals on a pop label yet cursed like a sailor; or to hear interesting facts about Doris Day from someone who has actually spoken with her on the phone (Yes, Shannon spoke with Doris!). Shannon shares her contagious passion for these iconic personalities and films in a delightfully knowledgeable way. So glad I found this treasure of a podcast. I’m hooked!
