Amazing podcast! This podcast is a very important part of my morning routine and displays factual content.

I used to love this podcast and believed it was true adulterated journalism, but that belief was tarnished with Cook up on that stage having donated his 1M for his seat. Don’t believe this is ever going to be hard hitting journalism - this will be softballs not to truly challenge and push to the authoritarian/fascism of the current administration. Shame on you Apple. Call your journalism what it is now - cowering to whatever keeps you on Trumps good side. What an embarrassment you are now.

Much vital information

One thing I can’t help but believe, may finally result from all this transition that has an effect on all things of revenue, and persons from most every walk of life, is that we steer clear from Federal Funding to resolve at a more local level both nationally and internationally. It is resourced in attempt to balance a playing field as much as possible, for sake of rural areas less populated (?). I feel most may seek other more permanent alternatives. Just not worth the future risk with such control, or having confusing control. -s.jxn- ga

Shamita’s voice is just made to deliver the news! I also love how the music is driven by the tone of the segment. I think it’s more engaging and just enough of a pause between topics to prepare for what’s to come. It’s like smelling coffee to reset the olfactory nerves in order to take in the next scent, with a clear head.

Been giving this podcast a chance for months since the changeover in Washington. While I appreciate critical analysis and recognize that every leader can do negative things or make mistakes, there is no attempt to acknowledge objective accomplishments or progress by conservative leadership. They ignore the good things Trump has done and always have a way of spinning something negative out every action he takes, mostly using personal antidotes and fear tactics.

Extremely bias

There are so many options for getting your morning update. Much to my surprise I’ve developed the habit of coming to Apple News Today first. Unlike other sources, there is a calmness to Shumita’s delivery. That’s no small achievement since she doesn’t pull any punches in the content. I learn things from this source I don’t always hear in other places. And since they rely on vetted sources I feel some degree confidence is what I’m hearing. I appreciate they bring in reporters from well known sources to spend a minute or two breaking down the story. Definitely worth a listen!

This news podcast is a great way to start your day—straightforward, no drama, just the facts.

A daily must! I love Shumita Basu’s tone and pace. Her voice is so calming! She is the main reason why I listen daily. She is probably my fav narrator out there right now. I also love how the information is short and to the point.

It wraps the news up in an accurate, short, and easy to understand format.

It’s how I start my day and prompts me to dig deeper on the stories I want to know more about.

I really enjoy listening to Apple News Today for a quick update on events and happenings around the world.

This show has been a must for my morning commute. At this point when I hear her voice I automatically think “oh it’s morning! Another new day.” But I don’t think it is necessary to mention “Shumita is out sick today” “Shumita is out of the office today” “I’m subbing in for Shumita”. What’s the intention of those msgs?

Something on this news podcast that I wish other podcast did more of. Is when referencing something someone had said you always play a clip. It helps me to interpret it myself instead of relying on the interpretation of others.

Apple News definitely has a strong liberal slant, especially with its anti-Trump vibe, which can feel over the top if you’re craving something more neutral. I get it—you want a middle-of-the-road option that doesn’t pick sides so hard. It’d be great if they balanced it out, but if you can see though the garbage it’s great.

Another NPR/ PBS sounding podcast, too bad

The best 12 minutes for updates in far left thought. I listen everyday for a 98.9% one sided presentation of news. Very interesting and informative.

The content focus on the how bad everything the Trump administration does. I am not a MAGA supporter but I am tired of this... Apple ‘news’ should consider covering an issue by providing the view on the left and on the right and providing a centrist coverage

I have loved this podcast and daily news update and listen to it for the past few years. I really liked the impartial reporting HOWEVER that has significantly changed over time as this podcast gained popularity. I would recommend that I get back to impartial reporting and give the facts and avoid having one-sided views. Interviewing sources that also have one-sided views or political agendas also discredits the impartiality of their journalism.

I’ve been listening to this podcast since 2022 and I love it. Shumita is a great journalist and I like that it’s 15 minutes long, it’s fair, and unbiased. Just facts.

Very helpful quick take on news during my commute. I’d like to have more audio content from Apple News. They should call this “but first…” 😅 This podcast might be the most important source of news available. They do a fantastic job of surveying topics and distilling out the fine points that really thread the needle so that you can see past the rhetoric and hype. Every word is well chosen so as to not bias you in a way that is not suggested by the facts. I read a lot of sources and these guys consistently present accurately and meaningfully.

Shumita does a fantastic job hosting, as does the production team. Don’t change the entry and exit music—it’s perfect for a morning news podcast.

Well produced podcast with a fair perspective that does not take sides or carry any political party lines. It’s just good journalism, far better than what you get from the big corporate networks.

Update: needs to interview first sources and not other reporters. Quick, smart briefing on the news of the day. Contextual information, critical thinking, Big stories in bite sized form. Hope there’s a weekend version soon too.

Apple News Today is my go to news source. They provide a true and informative summary of what is going on in the news.

Shameta always trails out at the end of her sentence and you miss the last 5 words she says.

The show is great and the length works, sometimes I wish it was longer to cover some more!

Shumita Basu is quickly becoming one of my favorite journalists. After Razia Iqbal left BBC World Service, I migrated to Apple News Today in the mornings. Very good content. Excellent analysis.

The podcast is well-produced and the perfect length (10-15 minutes). Just know that it has a left-wing bias (like most media outlets). That’s why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. If you want unbiased news, there aren’t many choices.

News is fine, but it has had different filled-in hosts in the past and I enjoyed their reading much more. This regular host’s voice goes low from time to time and it is really hard to hear in traffic when she ends the sentence in a specially low voices - that’s usually the part that’s the most important which decides the direction of the sentiment. It has been really annoying to say the least. Also it’d be great to reduce the opening intro. Time is money.

Voice drops and can’t understand what is said. Otherwise I recommend podcast

This pod is perfect. It’s straight to the point. Keeps the overall run time down. So it’s perfect as a daily news source.
