Unbuttoned - G. Bruce Boyer's Life In Clothes

137

G. Bruce Boyer is the preeminent menswear journalist, writer and historian of our time. He has written six books on men's style and worked as an editor for Town & Country, GQ and Esquire. And while he’s written about silk ascots, Savile Row suits, bespoke shoes and much more, he’s never told his own story. Until now. Hosted by Pedro Mendes.

    Inspirational as it was entertaining
Fantastic dive into men’s fashion history from a first person perspective. So great I’ve listened to much of it twice! More please.

    Must Listen
This podcast is superb on so many levels. First, Boyer is the kind of person you want to sit in a room with and talk for hours; this podcast is the next best thing. Second, it is an education in style and how to apply it meaningfully in one's life. Third, it is a exploration of important moments in what I would call art history. Many thanks to the producers…please keep these coming!

    Bruce...it’s time.
Every word, every story, every moment of this series is a treasure. And surely this just scratches the surface of Bruce’s terra. And your podcast, this pastiche of Bruce’s sartorial lore, just cements my case. Bruce, it’s time for you to write your memoirs. Dustin Grainger

    Wonderful storytelling
Mr. Boyer’s knowledge and years of experience and the conversational format of this podcast bring the subject of men’s fashion to life in a very intimate and enjoyable way. Bravo!

    Clamoring for more
Mr. Boyer’s voice comes over very well on the air, and his anecdotes are wonderful. I would be thrilled to hear more, and perhaps in an older podcast style. The editing is very well done, but to occasionally yield to winding conversations where guest and host interact might be more interesting

    Absolutely amazing!
If you are a fan of classic menswear this podcast is pure gold! I have searched for audiobooks in the men’s style genre and have come up empty handed. This podcast wet my appetite, the only issue is there are only 6 episodes!! Please come out with season 2!!

A fascinating podcast; I’d love to hear more!
I’ll admit with some embarrassment that I hadn’t heard of Bruce Boyer before finding this podcast, but that’s precisely why I’m glad to have found it! Hearing about Bruce’s life and career was both fascinating and inspiring. I’m now waiting on a copy of his latest book to arrive!

    High Quality
This podcast always leaves me wanting more. Unlike some podcasts that stretch out the time with fluff, this show is a tapestry of sartorial history, anecdotes and facts that you will hear nowhere else. No. Where. Else. Bruce’s stories about his experiences with Italian tailors, designers (he was friends with Bill Blass), etc. are funny and educational. Please continue this podcast!

    More Boyer Please!!!
This podcast - first off -sounds great. Secondly, the content cannot be beat. Boyer is THE MAN! He's honest, insightful, and humerous. Mendes does a perfect job of asking the right questions and putting his answers in context. I really hope they do a second season - there is so much more Boyer has to share.

    A thrilling menswear journey
This podcast is a jewel of modern storytelling. Mr. Mendes does an amazing job recounting the life and work of one of menswear’s MVPs. I have honestly listened to all episodes more than once, and some more than four times (I love the one about Italy’s tailors and the concept of craftsmanship. And that story about Bill Blass cracked me up!)
