Mykel99945Fun and InsightfulLoved Twin Peaks Rewatch and this is just as good. Keep making these types of podcasts and I'll keep listening!

Groove GeezerSuper good podcast!!It takes me deeper into the story. Smart analysis with sharp in site. The light dusting of humor makes it fun and unpretntious! More bank for my HBO bucks. Thanks Idle Thumbs

Bgdave39BlehMore focused on reviewing the show and providing artistic insight than in reviewing and giving insights into the story. Not to mention most of their insights come off like they have no idea what they're talking about.

k_g_h_mGreat as usualAnother great podcast from Idle Thumbs. Definitely enjoying listening along, and looking forward to the rewatch of Season 1 afterward. I too was eating during the autopsy scene. Euuughhh.

T & ETerrible, Sloppy & LazyI had to stop listening 15 minutes into the first episode, when one of the hosts, clearly disappointed that he wasn't getting The Further Adventures of Rust and Marty, made two of the most ill-informed criticisms of the show. First, he went super aggro that the writer had just "invented" this town called Vinci that had no basis in reality and didn't exist anywhere in SoCal (he didn't see it when he visited, apparently.) Then he called out the director for "making the Monterrey Peninsula look like it was 15 minutes from downtown LA." Well, he's just misinformed on both points, as even 15 minutes of even casual Internet research would have shown him: Vinci is based on the very real (and highly similar) industrial town of Vernon, and PCH just a few short miles up the coast from Malibu has the same rocky promontories as its more northern sections. I could get over the sheer laziness of his review. I could not get over how arrogantly he paraded his ignorance; would you take seriously a review of Chinatown that criticized it for making up the story of the Owens Valley River? The lesson: don't bother podcasting about shows that you so dislike on principle that you are not even going to do the most basic research about. Say you hate it and just move on.

kickintheheadGreat companion to the show!I've listened to these guys on several of their podcasts and they always have great discussions where they voice and break down their opinions. Not scene by scene, but genuine analysis from fans with funny and insightful comments. I look forward to new episodes as much as I do for the show itself!

UltimateBrentGreat discussionNice to listen to a podcast by people that aren't bogged down by traditional TV criticism, and can instead discuss the show as just intelligent fans.
-
MScoutsDCIA literary perspectiveI'd listen to these guys talk about just about anything. Rather than the usual scene-by-scene recap with surface level reaction and discussion we've come to expect from TV show podcasts, they take a literary approach and have great in-depth discussions. This podcast is to run-of-the-mill TV recap podcasts as The Wire is to run-of-the-mill procedural shows.

Ryan3263Amateur HourIf you are looking for a podcast by serious TV reviewers, this isn't the one. They left out a character entirely in the intros and couldn't remember the names of some of the main characters. They mostly talked about how closely or not Pizzolatto's Vinci resembles real life LA. They didn't theorize about the plot and didn't seem to care why the characters were so broken and screwed up. Advice for the panel: Watch the show multiple times and take notes, or don't make a podcast with the shows title in its name. Also, inclined listeners would prefer a show an hour in length.

SoulrverDetective NewsI don't watch True Detective. I don't even have HBO. I just love to hear these guys talk!

arkhamyogurtExcellentThese hosts talk about media in a way I wish I could. They’re so deliberate, articulate and intelligent. Instead of a “this show is real good” approach, they actively try to dissect the reasons why they feel a certain way. They’re getting a feel for the show at the exact same time we are, and it feels like we’re all trying to figure it out together. I love it.
