Listener45301Ok...but get the names rightThey called Gennadi by the wrong name for the entire podcast.

oliveo456Hosts read reviewsA BIG reason for constant host turnaround on this show is that they come here and check reviews and are constantly told how they aren’t smart enough or old enough to review the Americans, so they quit, because it’s a volunteer position, and then people complain that there’s no Americans Aftershow. Why should they do the show when the fans make it clear that they don’t care about their insight? Just, you know something to think about before you give a one star for a host being born in 1985.

TDYanks23Please Overhaul Podcast!!!I am a huge fan of Afterbuzz and The Amercans Podcast, but after this past season, this needs new hosts for next season. This season was a major drop off from the people you had in the past. These hosts. Constantly rambled a mumbled incoherently through points and barely touched on main topics. Secondly, I am Not a Trump Fan, but it got to the point of Extremely Irritating that the host constantly tried to make connections to today's climate with this show. Trump has Nothing to do with the show, or time period. Nobody cares about their Self Important Conspiracy theories. Just stick to talking about the Show Please!

R1065Where is s:4?What gives with the absence of most of season 4?

Mainer0908Inarticulate and InaccurateI'd give this a zero star if available. Panel is unprepared to discuss the series. They don't even know what year season 5 is set in (86?, 87?). They provide some sort of inaccurate references to today's political situation. They have no outline or direction. Very disappointing. Don't waste your time. Please assemble a more articulate panel. The comments continue to be inane and inappropriate. Discussion of EPISODE 10 may have hit an all time LOW. Inappropriate ramblings about the personal lives of the idiot commentators used more airtime than actual discussion of the show. CAN THIS STAFF BE REPLACED???
-
BoBaurenKeep TK Trinidad - lose the other twoThe host, TK Trinidad, clearly wants to have a substantive discussion about the show, but she's held hostage by the stupidity and incredibly vapid incomprehensibility of her cohosts. I can't stand listening to those two idiots. I love listening to her, and would raise the ratings if she had other panelists who weren't morons - or who at least engaged in the conversation in a way that tracked.
-
Terry NWorst Americans PodcastHave these guys even watched the series? Don't waste your time on this. Usually AfterBuzz has some people that have interesting and/or humorous takes on their after shows. This podcast has neither. No insights that are worth anything.

Neal222225 Minutes of Intelligent Talk Crammed Into 45 MinutesPure BS podcast; the other Americans podcast is much better

ImuhtryinGreat show, bad podcastListen, I love Afterbuzz TV. I listen to countless other recap shows and have very little to complain about but this is ridiculous. These hosts know hardly anything about the show and nothing about the era. They also seem to think that it is appropriate to bring personal politics onto the show. This show deserves better than this.

JSFIGSSometimes entertaining, but hosts are uneducatedThe podcast has some interesting and entertaining analyses regarding plot. However, the hosts attempt to discuss the historical context of the show and they are quite ignorant regarding 1980's Russia and the Cold War. If the hosts are uneducated on a subject, that's fine, but then don't discuss it like a bunch of ignoramuses. Stick to discussing the plot.

Bad Wolf 090 starsWorst podcast about the BEST show on TV!!!
-
tscott123Where did you go?This season of The Americans has been the best so far. Every season gets better and better and it is critically acclaimed. Why no more podcast? Is there no one at Afterbuzz that watches the show? This show is every bit as good as Breaking Bad and I’ve never said that about another show. Do you need contributors? I’m available! I’ve been watching the show since day one. You are missing out on a big opportunity for ratings - there are only a couple of podcast out there that cover this show.

howardandgarydisappointingThe female cohost likes to mumble comments under her breathand is uncoherent Doesn't she want us to hear what she is saying , or is she ashamed of her shallow opinions ???

eMARTYWhere are the new episodes?!?Have you guys stopped doing this after show?
-
Friendly Ghost Was Taken!?Great format, great hosts, great way to recap!I really like the hosts and think they each bring a different insight into this show -- which is what I want after I finish an intense hour watching Elizabeth or Philip or Paige struggle with their secrets.
-
Waynes Weird WorldHosts are not very good.Really downhill with new new hosts, especially ms Snow. Does anyone ever do their homework?
-
TexasTessieElizabeth Breakdown in CarYou guys do a great job, and it's clear you really appreciate the show. One comment on Elizabeth almost breaking down in the car after being with Hotel Guy - I'm bringing this back to Paige, and Elizabeth's desire to induct her into spy life. Elizabeth is VERY loyal to her country to a fault, but I don't think she looked at the full ramifications of having her daughter follow in her footsteps - you know, like sleeping with MANY strangers and then (probably) killing them. I dont't care how loyal you are, when it comes to your own daughter doing these things ... well, that's a sobering thought. Keep up the good work! Keep up the good work!

philbootsThe Americans AnachronismGot a good laugh with your "voicemail" reference. Was no such term back then. I enjoy your show, because I love The Americans.
-
lexofeliaWhy Why WhyI enjoy your breakdown and analysis of the show as always but please explain........ I know you wont read this one on your show but I would love to understand the concept of pissing on your fan base. Why the Republican conspiracies comment? I have noticed this several times over the course of the season. Is it that you only want like minded people to listen to your show? If you guys can figure a way out to stop injecting your own personal politics into things it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Ps - This is from someone who is not a Republican.

macktanSeason 3 Afterbuzz Disappoinng!I listen to many AfterBuzz podcasts for TV shows I watch, and have enjoyed the podcasts for the first 2 seasons. This one is, however, dreadful. Not only do the hosts lack knowledge about the events that took place during this time period, they also fail to recall events in the series itself. That we should expect them to is farfetched, they claim. After all, they weren’t born when these events happened in the real world and, more important, they are volunteers. What’s worse, they don’t even sound excited about the show. I suggest AfterBuzz find some adults to do the podcasting.
-
SlackerIncGreat group with a nice energySure, they do miss a few things now and then about the history and culture of the era. But they have a nice rapport with each other, they are entertaining, and I actually enjoy the way they are willing to go off on a tangent and talk about social issues and so on.
-
kdlodgeLove the Americans but would entice to have older host! The hosts need to be able to relate to the period of the show. Someone mentioned that they didn't know the meaning of the word apartheid. Really! They have no knowledge of the period so it is harder for them to relate. Also I think Martha is playing Philip big time. Might be wrong but it was hardly considered by the hosts. Also the reason Elizabeth killed the woman with the pills would be too make it look like heart failure or suicide due to illness. Breaking her neck would cause an investigation. Duh! No Saying that Elizabeth didn't have sympathy but the main reason is to cover the murder.

GS640Sanction the HostsI lived in the era of the reviewed show. I'm a fan of The Americans. I liked the previous hosts of the podcast. The current hosts, who never lived in the 80s, descend into moral relativism in their review of the show. Americans did think back then. We do need reinvented history & sociology lessons from some O-Bots from La-la Land. And WHO cares what color of skin the female host is.
-
Forever-and-a-DayGreat discussions!Love the way this group discusses the episodes and how they bring up thoughtful insights. Even more, appreciate how they intertwine other current themes, such as history, politics, racism, the legal system, etc. Well done and highly recommend!

renada_deshada_OBESUPER-awesomeKind of like overhearing dumb people at work talk about TV, only less interesting and less funny.

futuredrew5 StarsMost underrated show on TV today.

ebeth23Please bring back the Joes and JenI miss the previous hosts, they really brought interesting thoughts and ideas to the show. I will try to give the new hosts some time, but they have a lot to live up to stepping in as hosts. If the Joes and Jen are not available for an immediate podcast after the show, it would be worth waiting for them to talk about The Americans a few days later. Criticism of new host - the female often doesn't speak into the microphone or she talks too softly; the male doesn't offer up enough of his thoughts, which could be more interesting than what his co-host has to say; and they are too off topic, meaning not enough attention to what happened during the show and what it could mean for the main characters.

Americans FanGreat hosts, but not particularly deepI absolutely love the television show, and have been searching for podcast on it, when I came across this one. The hosts of this podcast are very pleasant to listen to, and really do appreciate the show. Unfortunately, they sometimes , miss things, enough so that it lessens how deep and comprehensive their discussions can be. They also tend to jump around what happened in the episode, leading to them not discussing imprtant or interesting things that happened. They are the best podcast I've heard on the show so far, and they have the potiential to be really great if they just pay attention a bit more and take their time discussing all the aspects of an episode.
-
Regpasha1Brilliant AnalysisThis is my favorite podcast. Season 2 is even better. Great analysis by articulate and personable crew.

k8wmaWhere are the last episodes??Where are the last eps of season 2?

MattInChinaWhat Happened to 2.12?Love the podcast! Many times you help me catch things I may have missed. What happened to this weeks (2.12)?
-
workworkworkLove the Afterbuzz podcasts!I love “The Americans” and it’s great to listen to a podcast where the hosts enjoy the show as much as I do! i downloaded the whole series so far and binge-listened to get myself up to date. On the strength of this, I also grabbed the podcasts for “Sherlock” and “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D”. Afterbuzz TV is ADDICTIVE! (but in a good way…)
-
thirteen28I look forward to this almost as much as the showAfter an episode of the show ends, I begin looking forward to this podcast. I get a lot out of the show, but I get a lot more after listening to this podcast, which illuminates the true greatness of this show.

R36613Wrong commentary choice for this epic showAll the 1st pod was missing was Ooooh maaaw gawd, and like oh Kahy. The ice cream, vodka, and guess jeans commentary was over the top.
-
BigShane84Afterbuzz and Americans back on top!Afterbuzz continues it's great string of entertaining and informative shows. This crew is my favorite. I have followed them from show to show and they haven't led me astray yet. Keep up the good work and I like the new addition of Bart!

Joey1957WONDERFULAfter a few missed steps in the beginning - we finally go true fans of the show doing the review. Can't say enough wonderful things about the guys and their insights. Looking forward to coming back in January!!!! Buzz ya later.

buppysonGreat Podcast & Great Show!I hope this show comes back for a season 2, there is so much they can do with plots and characters should they decide to renew. Claudia is amazing, I'm really gonna miss her- hopefully they'll have her replace the Col. and she'll be a reoccuring character. Great show and great cast.
-
Mikah_McThis is Martha's Episode!( this comment is strictly nonsense and just a fun commentary about the character Martha) Omg, you guys had me goin!! You were thinking exactly what I was thinking! Martha bites her bottom lip every time she got excited! I had a wide grin across my face during her scenes! Specially the scene where Clark writes MARRY ME on her palm, and she bit her bottom lip ( or non lip) and kinda flicked her head to the left with glee! Genius acting. That is so Martha... The actress is awesome however, I can't help but think The character Martha, belongs in an SNL skit lol Love this episode. Love this show. Love the afterbuzz podcast!
-
feagley4My Thursday Morning Coffee!Love this podcast! I look forward to it as much as my morning coffee (okay, it's Diet Coke…). This podcast actually helped me get into the show. I had watched the first episode, but wasn't so sure I would add it to my "shows." After listening to Lauren, Jen, and the Joes, I was hooked on the podcast as well as "The Americans." I will miss it after next week's finale, as much as I'll miss the show itself until it returns!

LLD08Kind of disappointed in shallow analysisJust a constructive critique to challenge our hosts a bit: Having grown up throughout the Cold War era, I have to say I'm a little disappointed in a couple of things in the hosts analysis of this show. First, they occasionally fall back on stereotypical assumptions about the KGB. For example, that Gregory was going to be killed and not actually sent to Moscow to live. There was no reason to believe that. Clearly, Philip & Elizabeth believed it and they talked of other "assets" who had been sent to Moscow. Another example of the stereotype is the assumption that Grannie (not Grandma!) is cold and doesn't care about the people working for their cause. She could have caused a lot of problems for Elizabeth after she beat the crap out of her, but she didn't. At the very least, she could have gotten herself justifiably sent home d/t injury (and age), but she didn't. A militaristic society like the Soviet Union could not, and did not, tolerate insubordination from a subordinate to a higher level Soviet operator. Second: all of this focus on emotions and marital relationships is a bit shallow. You have completely ignored the deeper issue at play here: the fact that Philip and Elizabeth have lived as Americans and among Americans for decades (longer than they lived in the Soviet Union at this point). Their children are Americans. On a subconscious level, at least, is it troubling for them to kill "fellow" Americans, people they live with day-to-day? How do they feel about the rights that they have living as Americans that they would never have in the Soviet Union, the comforts of their life in America compared to how their families live in the Soviet Union? They are fully immersed in American life, from eating American foods (spaghetti) to going to neighborhood barbecues to wearing American clothes and watching American tv. Heck, they even let their kids hang out at the mall. Their patriotism to mother Russia notwithstanding, it must make things much more complex for them, even Elizabeth. I believe this is why the Russian handlers are very attentive to the possibility that their agents could start to sympathize with Americans and feel more American than Russian after so many decades. They came to America as very young adults. Do you remember how impressionable you were at 19, even if you didn't want to be? Finally, the relationship between Philip and Elizabeth and their kids. Someone said the kids were excited to see Daddy the Hero and that upset Elizabeth. I think this is a dynamic that must have always existed, even before their separation. As you have discussed, Elizabeth is very cold and unemotional. She is cold with her children also. Philip was the huggy parent, the one who tucked the kids in and played with them. Their home must feel very different now that Philip is gone (and now Elizabeth is stressed and perhaps distracted on top of this). For the daughter, at her age, she has lived with the family dynamics long enough to know that Elizabeth tends to be cold and would naturally blame her for the problems in the marriage. The kids prefer Philip, perhaps. If it were me as a kid, I think I would want to live with Philip, not with Elizabeth. Because that house has become very, very quiet with only Elizabeth there with the kids. Otherwise, I enjoy your comments on the shows. I wish that Jenifer (?) wouldn't dominate the conversation so much. I like hearing what the others have to say. And Joe is right, Gregory's men knew they were working for the KGB. In the last episode (Only You) Claudia said something about how they had all been trained to have an escape route and to scatter to, and disappear in, specific places. Clearly, Curtis gave up Gregory. He was in a no-win situation. Gregory's sacrifice of himself was both sad and kind of inspirational. As you guys discussed, that was a huge thing for Philip to trust Elizabeth and put down his gun. He was not only risking his life, but also the lives of their kids, by doing as she wished. I wonder if Elizabeth considered the risk to her kids when she begged Philip to let him go? Did she consider Philip's risk, both in defying Grannie's order and in the danger to his life. I went from liking Elizabeth to not being a big fan of hers lately. I hope they rehabilitate her so we can see what's going on deep down inside of her and not just the remote coldness at the surface.

GregM in AustinGregory's fateGreat Podcast. I think Gregory was going to die either way. There was no way he was making it to Russia, they would have killed him on the plane\ship over there and dumped his body in the ocean. Remember the mother with the baby that the KGB killed? The baby was given to its Russian grandparents, I believe.

c0rinnemNew FavThis is my new favorite show and I'm really enjoying the podcast. Not many people I know watch the show yet, so it's great to hear your analysis and to hear people point out new things. Thanks, from a new listener.

Scion13More good work comrades.Hey AfterBuzz gang, so this is I think my 25th or so podcast that i listen to from AfterBuzz and as usual, it's great. Keep up the good work and I will keep subscribing.
-
TexasFloydGood podcastLike the show , especially Joe B's take on things. Like myself, he was there during the 80s, though I suspect I'm older. His reference to Tinker, tailor.., was good. I thought of Forsthe's "Jackal" as I watched the episode last night. Keep up the good work!
-
Encinitas KevinGood Podcast - missed a few things in MADIn your Mutually Assured Destruction podcast, you missed a few big things that shed light on the previous episode. How did "Granny" know that Phillip had been unfaithful on that last mission? She knew because that was part of the Op! Everything was set up as a further test of his loyalty to the cause: his ex-girlfriend, a fake son, "the sex." Margo Martindale got the report that Phillip wouldn't defect, but that he had slept with his ex. She uses that information to drive a wedge between Elizabeth and Phillip and allow her to regain control over Elizabeth.
-
treesyjoGood podcast except one thing...Love the TV show The Americans and I appreciate the insight this podcast provides. I feel they always mention something I either didn't notice or didn't realize the importance of. That being said, I wish they would stop mentioning Homeland and comparing it to this show. I bought my husband the First Season of Homeland on BluRay but I probably won't watch it with him because this podcast kind of ruined it for me. I also wish the podcast would offer more of an episode recap and less gushing about the acting, writing, spy stuff, etc. We get it. The acting is crazy good, the show offers both spy action and relationship drama, you love the old timey spy technology and lack thereof. Please just recap the episodes and discuss what actually happened in the episode. Thanks!

TFG1MikeThe Americans is FX's BEST New ShowI love listening to the podcast every week after the show airs. The Americans is easily my 2nd favorite FX show, the first is The Shield. I love the dynamic of the hosts on the podcast. Granted Lauren does talk the most, but she is the main host. I love the discussion of the hosts, keep up the great work!!!
-
JordanBearWas a miss for AfterbuzzI've quickly become a fan of the show "The Americans" so naturally I was super excited to see that afterbuzz was covering it! I'm an avid afterbuzz podcast listener and was disappointed by this one. The dynamic of the three seems off. I find one of them, Lauren, especially loud and it seems like she is has to have the last word a lot. They tend to talk to over each other as well. I hope they change up the cast or can somehow pull it together to make it flow better.
