Norman BargoThe exist of artI really enjoy these short episodes. There a quick fun bite of artwork. It doesn’t really pop out at me as anything amazing, but in a age of controversy and ugliness, how could we request less beauty?

mabragg68Great course teaching just the very basicsFor a 45 year old wanting to learn how to draw, something I've always wanted to do, I found this course to be sufficient in teaching some basics. The instructor clearly articulates the techniques and is easily understood. Can't imagine why somebody gave this course a poor review.

afallensk8trTwo & a Half Stars, trulyI am a sophomore by the age of 15 years. I have been drawing since I could go far enough to remember. This is good, for beginners. However, these lessons are SO unbelievably, straight lace! The fact is that art is NOT rules, art is NOT do this, do that. Drawing realistically is great, congratulations, but, in my years of drawing (being only 15) have already been trained to see an object, photograph, & draw in almost absolute accuracy that object, person, face, etc. and they look great BUT, they are not interesting. Be creative, use color, throw blue in where you wouldn't expect to see blue, be colourful, be ORIGINAL! Art IS NOT boring if you don't let it be. He is doing great at teaching realistically, which is necessary, but only a very small part of what makes true art, art. True art lys in the mind of the creative.

MerryartmakerComplex made simple to understandIt was a pleasure to hear Mr. Farthing teach complex yet basic elements of drawing in such easy to comprehend language. His words are carefully chosen and defined in common terms. His demonstrations were simple and to the point. As a professional artist who teaches I plan to use many of his definitions with my students. It was also great to see some of John Ruskin's drawings up close. Thanks Mr. Farthing. Make more!

beckiecxdAll theoryThis series briefly discusses (too briefly to get any application) basic elements of drawing. It will be difficult to improve your technical skills based on these videos, if that is what you're looking for. The speaker's own inability to draw (see his creation in "Creativity") and the mediocre artwork that he uses as examples seem to undermine his credibility as an artist, though.
